Default 22 Ammo for target pistol practice can't even be had$

At least at a descent price. Not exactly terrorist or law enforcement or self protection Ammo. Still it is in short supply. What is going on?

Mfg's are spending their time and resources on ammo with better margins.

525 Value pack for $149 when it should be less than $20 makes for some healthy margins for the gun store. The demand for .22LR is amazing. I went to the Gander Mountain "Gun Store Reopening" last Saturday. There were a ton of people in line waiting for the store to open. Seemed like everyone was there to pick up ammo. I was able to pick up a Value pack for $26.

What are people doing with all this .22LR ammo?

Over the past few months the price of 22lr has gone crazy. Locally it's easier to find gold than this ammo. I've been checking a few websites and striking when I can find some pricing near pre-panic days. It's out there if you keep on it. I refuse however to pay these crazy prices of $75-$100 a brick.

What is going on is an unprecedented run on ammo. Why this is happening is up for debate. The marketplace sees supply and demand. Tell your neighbor to stop bidding up the price of ammo to fill his storage locker and the situation will return to normal.

Keep an eye online. I recently picked up 1400 rds of .22LR from Cabelas. The bucket that Remington sells. I believe it was $70 to my front door.

Decent ammo but it does get everything very dirty....

Nope, not kidding. If you're serious, put them on armslist.com. Guarantee they will be gone tomorrow.

Not true. .22 tooling can't be done differently.

That isn't much to get excited about. Before the madness and firearm-ageddon, 555 round boxes of remington white box was under $30 at wally world. It's out there, but you have to work for it. Remember all those "crazies" telling everyone to stock up on ammo? Not looking so crazy now are they!

They are stupid not crazy because that message is what led to even more ammo hoarding and the problems we have today!

Just quit shooting for awhile.. If everyone does then ammo will return to normal.

I quit shooting a few months ago because of this crap.

Gave up my USPSA shooting matches.

You have to treat it as a game or a hunt. Get membership at several of the sites and sign up for notifications and be prepared to jump on it when they email you. If you have the time or are logged on to the internet anyway, join gunbpot.net and set up your "good price" level and have it only show instock and set the alarm.

Decent sites for me have been: Cabelas, Midway, Palmetto, and Natchez. 8-10 cents a round is a decent price for Aguila, Remington, and a few other middle rate hunting and range rounds. The super cheap big boxes only show up very rarely.

Shipping charges basically double the cost, so if I get a brick with shipping, I am usually in the $50-54 range delivered.

Just don't buy from the ones charging idiot prices. If you have a month, you can easily get a couple of bricks at only slightly increased prices, but you have to be dedicated.
