This is why the policy has changed. That is ridiculous to think a company wants their employees dealing with this. There are plenty of customers out there for WM that will spend their money and not waste the employees' time like this. Obviously. Otherwise they wouldn't have changed the policy. Pretty simple analysis I bet. How many price match sales did we have? How much money did we lose directly from the sale? How much of a hassle was it doing the transaction? Would we have sold those same products to someone else? Yes? Oh, ok. Let's get rid of the policy. Done deal.

I find that West Marine to be the middle of the road when it comes to prices. Highest are my local independent shops, then WM, then whatever online store I utlimately use.

If I suddenly need a part that I was not anticipating, such as a fuel filter or whatnot (yeah I know always keep a spare), I'll go to WM and pick one up for $14.99+tax rather than go to my local independent shop and pay $39.99+tax. Lesson learned, I'll go online and pick up 2 for $14.99 hopefully with free shipping to have extra filters on hand.

Your boycott idea is dumb.

Boycott?? Really?? I have never walked into a West Marine that wasn't EMPTY.

When I walk in I am glad they are there because I need what I need right now.

As for the concept of OP calling for a boycott???

<yawn>

Silly.
