Isn't lefty sponsored by California in some way? The travel bureau or something along those lines? I seem to remember him in an "I love California, you will too." sort of ad.

I expect him to move to Texas or Florida within the next couple of years. No way would I keep paying .63 out of every dollar to a government that cannot exercise any fiscal responsibility whatsoever.
Bingo. He said he regretted talking about the subject matter, he didn't retract what he previously said.

Well if you stay with her she gets access to all $30mm. So that's like a sale price. Not the same as the government taking it. They are still going to be there next year too! Ex is done.

Question.
What does the Government do to deserve that 60% of $60 million???
I am NOT a Mickelson fan by any stretch but I can certainly understand his point!

in theory it keeps the poor and downtrodden fed and housed so they don't show up at the doors of the rich and start burning shit down.

Uh, see the definition of a democrat.

F****** liberals at it again. Chit I used to be one of them then got a job, invested my money in real-estate,Worked myself to death, nearly went bankrupt but the government didn't care they still wanted their 35%. That's when I saw the light and then people have the nerve to tell me I'm still not paying my fair share Its not the fact I work harder then people of lower class, the difference is I put my balls on the line and had things not worked out for me I would be homeless. I'm calling it now this country is going to go bankrupt before "change" happens. Too many entitlements, the 53% should get a thank you card from the government but nope we get a "well f*** you for living the American dream pay more" rant over

Cripes.

Phil should pay two tax bills. One for his left tit and one one for his right tit.

Talking of right tits.

WTF is it with some of you that have a go at people not paying their fair share and then defending someone about not paying their fair share?

Phil is earning money in a progressive tax band system. I think many of us would like his tax problems. Is it fair? Hell no. Does it affect him. Hell no.

Tiaraboater, I'll allow you to take this statement back "the fact I work harder then people of lower class" - sit yourself down and have a word with yourself.

I've read your story and I was impressed. Pooooof! Gone! Now you are just "one of those guys".

1. Who is "lower class"?
2. Define "work harder".

Don't fall for it. Reading your story you did it all yourself (with a little help from dad). Don't try to be something you despise.

By the way, congrats on everything. I was inspired by your story.

All of you assholes that think that a 13.5% taxrate is fair you can blow me.

The guy is right, Cali sux right now. He should bail. Why wait. He earns his money, nobody is handing it to him. If you can play like him then step up and reap the benefit.

Why the fuck should this guy fund all the illegals and dumb ass losers that get the free ride in Cali.

It does affect him and his family. Keep what you make is what I see in Florida commercials lately........

Sell the house and get the fuck out.................

I am planing my escape from the wonderful land of Cuomo.......

That didn't come out right... I was trying to say "it's not that I work harder then people of lower classes" I know some hard working middle class people. The difference is they didn't take this risk I did, risk gets reward. And as for my father he gave me $35,000 and I did something smart most 18 year olds wouldn't have I bought a 3 unit house....it's the same thing as a college education those days in terms of Money. Sure I was given something but I turned it into what I have today. I'm by no means a trust fund baby but I can't fully say I'm self made either.

No person for any reason should be paying a tax rate of 63%, I dont care how much money they make. Sounds to me like we have a few on this site who are jealous of a man becoming successful. No apologies Phil.!!

I simply don't understand some of the comments.

Everyone gets a free ride up until certain thresholds.

Then we pay taxes on those dollars above certain thresholds.

People say "I want them to pair their fair share".

Depending on what you earn, you pay "your fair share".

Just like me, Phil didn't pay taxes on the first $8,500.

He paid 15% on the next $26,000 - just like me.

Just like me and you he paid 26% or so on the next $50K

And so on. Are you saying that he should get a pass on this?

There are people who make less than us, they pay less. There are people who pay more than us because they make more.

That's the way it is.

Phil wasn't complaining and I'm not criticizing him, but some of your thinking is way off.

If a government doesn't know what to do with Phil's (fictional) 63% what do you think they will do with your 30%?

Phil is paying exactly his fair share. If you think he isn't, then neither are you, and neither am I.

Flat tax and a national sales tax. Everyone pays their fair share that way. Done.

The man is a professional golfer, not a political activist or a politician. He should have simply kept his mouth shut about his taxes and moved to Florida. His apology was to his sponsors and his fans for opening his mouth in the first place..

It's not just the fact that the govt. is stealing 60+% of his income, it's also what they do with it. I just read where we are sending F-16's and tanks to the muslim brotherhood in Egypt and we are sending another 30+ million to Africa to train THEIR soldiers. It's time we stop the handouts. And that is just a small portion of what we are sending out this month.
