Default 6.8 SPC AR Recomendation

Hey guys -

Posted this on AR15.com as well. Don't want this to turm political, please

With all the talk of new gun control laws, thinking about getting a 6.8 SPC for hunting. I currently have a Browning BAR .270 that has been flawless, been thinking of getting an AR for a couple of years just never acted on it, now with the possibility of the impending new laws, that I think are sure to come, time to do this.

With that said, I am a newbie, I have shot a friends AR a few times and love the platform, but do not know enough to build one. Thinking time is of the essence now.

What can you recommend as a total package? I am in Virginia so we have to have a caliber greater than .23 for deer hunting, so the 6.8 would do nicely.

Looking for dealers with the gun already built, ready to ship.

Please give me your recommendations. Your time is greatly appreciated.

Really? All the 6.8SPC factory ammo bullets I have found have terrible BC compared to good long range ammo.

visit 68forms from Silver State Armory site. Tons of good info and people wanting to help.

I just had my 6.8 upper built at http://www.ironworkstactical.com/Home_Page.html

in NC suppressionsolutions

The 6.8 Remington original product was built to SAMI 1 specs. Don't want one of those. Sami2 specs. You will learn all you need to know on the 68forum.

Those Hornaday bullets were hand-loaded cartridges (not factory ammo) and the BC was .35. That's a poor BC for a "long range" cartridge.

My .260 Rem shoots .59-.62 BC bullets. Much better for long range. Ie, 700+ yards.
