Default Tv spike

My parents just bought a new flat screen LED tv and when ever a switch is flipped or tripped anywhere in the house it spikes horizontily across the screen of the tv when it's on. Is there a filter of some kind that can be installed on the power chord of the tv to prevent this? Thx.

To hell with a filter. I'd call an electrician and look at the electrical panel. It isn't the tv.

Sounds to me like some kind of neutral issue in the home, start with the local power company and let them tell you if you need an electrician. Power company is a free visit and the electrician will charge you.

Power company
Try it with a DVD and cable box unplugged.
If it happens with cable box unplugged call electrician
if it doesn't happen with DVD call cable guy. They might have gotten an HD box with new TV and had some wiring changed
