Default Anyone using "Squareup"?

I've been considering using the service and was wondering if anyone has been using it and has any feed back..

I frequently am in places that do not have reliable cell service and was wondering if it need to be on a network to work as well...

Thanks in advance.

I don't use it but have paid someone who was using it. Pretty cool. Easy as can be.

My fiancé and I have it as our primary medium of accepting payment. It does require cellular service (3G, LTE, or WiFi) to work. It is very reliable and I recommend it. PM me if you have more questions.

I have it and love it. The rate is good and there's no monthly fee like many other charge card companies. Yes you have to have some sort of connection to the outside world such as 3G, 4G, LTE, or WiFi. At my place, my cell coverage is useless but we have WiFi so it works just fine.

Yes i use it all the time but be warned. The fees go up for cards entered by number instead of swipe and manually entered payments exceeding a total of $2300 in 7 days are frowned upon. They will hold the entire amount for 30 days. Nasty surprise when you have a week of out of state clients and you jam in 5K in 3 days and then wait for a month for your money. No limits on swiped cards though, it goes in within 2 days usually.

I don't plan on doing many if any non swiped transactions but that is definitely a point that need to be known.
Thanks.

For a low volume merchant, referred to in the industry as a micro merchant, the service is decent, however if you ever have a problem you will wish you had traditional processing. The last time I checked you could not call and speak to someone if you have a problem or question. It is called e-service (electronic customer service). Also expect to see changes to square especially as it pertains to pricing in the future. While they have taken in a lot of VC money, they are not close to being profitable. At some point their fee structure has to change in order to actually make money.

DISCLAIMER .... I am a traditional merchant service provider with 20 years in the industry.
