Default Olympics - Russian Pretzel Hold

Russian Pretzel Hold

The upcoming Olympics remind me of a match years ago between the USA and the USSR. The US coach was looking at the match ups and figured that the match could come down to the heavyweight match. The problem is that the Russian heavyweight was world known for the Russian pretzel hold. No man had ever escaped the Russian pretzel hold.

Well, the US team traveled to Russia and sure enough, it was a close match and did indeed came down to the heavyweight match. The US wrestler did great the first period but in the second period the Russian threw the pretzel hold on the US wrestler. In dismay the US coach threw down his towel and walked outside the gym to get a drink of water. He heard the crowd go crazy and walked back in expecting to see the Russian with his hand held up. Instead, it was the US crowd going crazy and the referee was holding up the American’s hand.

He ran up to his heavyweight and said, “What in the hell happened? Nobody has ever gotten out of the Russian pretzel hold”. The heavyweight looked at him and said, “Coach, when he had me tied up like that I got desperate. I looked up and there was a set of testicles hanging in front of my face. I just reached up and bit the hell out of them.” He went on to say, “Ya know, a man doesn’t know his own strength until he bites himself in the balls”.

just forwarded that to my son, who wrestled in the 176# class in HS way back when. Luckily, it was he that put many of his opponents into some sort of hold or another.

Bradley, TN, has a regional tournament for wrestling, and he remains as the class winner that won all six matches in the shortest amount of time ever (cumulative). They asked what he wanted as a trophy/ class winner or the MVP. He chose MVP and was then told that the trophy couldn't leave the State of Tennessee....especially going to Alabama.

His memories are easier to store, though!

Just guessin', if he's that good of a wrestler, he's already heard the joke.
