Default Can't go fishing. Hit & run driver Messed up my tow vehicle

Going about 30 miles an hour, going West, East bound driver suddenly turned left into my tow vehicle, (no not at an intersection) really messed up my 2007 LandCruiser, then he took off at high speed but was stopped about 1/4 mile later because he hit another car which disabled his vehicle. I chased him, caught up to him, called 911 three cop cars showed up.

My guess is that he was going too fast so to avoid hitting the slower car in front of him he turned left into me. Not only did it mess up the left side of my car, he pushed the right side of my car into a bank of mail boxes, so both sides of my LC are damaged.

Cop said driver admitted he was at fault and said the driver did have insurance. Can't get the police report of the accident for 5 days.

Guy acted drunk or high on something. If he could have run after he hit the second car I'm sure he would have. Obviously a hit and run situation.

They handcuffed him and put him into the back seat of the patrol car, later he was removed from the patrol car, handcuffs were removed and was set free and no ticket was issued. I asked the cop why he was released he said his supervisor told him to release him.

Got an estimate from local Toyota dealer to fix my car, guess what....$8,500.00.

It must have been the police chief, or Mayor's son.

Slap some duct tape on that driver's side mirror and use that sumbitch to tow your boat on down to the ramp. There's no damage on that LC that should keep it off the road.

Or UT football coach.

Should have been arrested on a hit & run. I would contact that supervisor and inquire as to why no citations were issued.

failure maintain lane
hit & run

recently the victim of a hit and run as well...

One of my friends picked several of us up from the bar district downtown. We are driving down the main road, when a car ignores a stop sign and pulls out into us. The front bumper went into the rear quarter panel. Minor dents. The driver of the other car proceeds to floor it, passes us and hauls ass for about a block. We sped up a bit and followed, got the tags and were about to make the 911 call when they pull over suddenly.

The owner of the car is a little boozed and in the passenger seat, his less intoxicated but definitely tipsy girlfriend is the driver. The owner gets out, apologizes, looks at the small dents, scratches and offers to pay cash "man I got like 1,000 bucks cash in the car, let me give you $600 and we'll call it even"

we got $1000

haha true

but the moral is to never tell someone you are negotiating with how much dough is in your pockets! Especially if you have just done something to wrong to them.. like hitting their car and fleeing the scene

"I have $1000 but i'll give you 600".. yeah right buddy, going to need all of your money. now.

I would be down at the station with my lawyer, and the local TV trouble shooter getting some answers. Did you take some pics, video, at the scene, get his license number? You should have access to the report by next day, 5 is ridiculous.

That scratch will not affect the towing capabilities of that vehicle. It's okay, you can tell us, you don't want to go fishing do you? That's all right, it's okay, can we use your boat?

for the OP I would make sure to get all your "neck injuries" checked out as well since the idiot that did this is likely to get off on the felony hit and run.....I would not normally say to complain about all of the "pain" and to make sure that "the hammer" or whatever the local shyster in your area calls themselves represents you, but normally people would stop and take responsibility......or normally they would get a felony for not doing so

I don't know if Tenn is the same but in NJ the statute of limitations for a MV Summons to be issued is 30 days.

Talk to the investigating Officer after you get the report. If it seems like no summons will be issued, you should be able to go to the Court and issue the tickets yourself.

Of course you won't be able to issue for DWI but careless and leaving the scene should be easy enough to prove. Just make sure the accident report is accurate as it will be the probable cause for you to issue the tickets.
