Default Things you miss

Not talking about people or pets but rather, things/stuff that you can't get anymore.

Blasting down the road today @89* with the windows open due to dead A/C in the Sprinter work van, I thought about the vent windows they used to put in cars and trucks. I miss them.

What do you wish you could still get your hands on?

This is a tough one...............

1 -Carbureted big V-6 Johnson outboard motors and decent glass outboard boats for less than 40 grand.

Real bars where they buy back every 2nd or 3rd drink

Aunt Frances's saurkraut and Uncle Walts home made Keilbasa

Local hardware and sports stores and the old Main Streets where people gathered and talked face to face friday nights.

Drive -in theaters

Decent sized Sporty real wheel drive American cars with stick-shifts.

The local drag-strip (which is now by the way Consumer Reports auto testing track)

Basically most all products are safer and better now - just have taken away choices like the carbed 2 s strokes and the above cars - for whatever reasons

Simpler times. You know the times that one could leave all the window's open and the door unlocked night and day without fear of being burglarized or worse.
Where a youngster could walk down to the end of the street with his BB gun and shoot minnow's in the canal without worries of receiving grief from Barny Fife.
When disagreement's were settled with knuckle's rather than caliber's.
Dayum I miss the good ole day's.

Yep goin to downtown Tampa in the early 60's to see my Grandma at O'Faulks and she'd give us a dollar and me and my brother would get in the movies and pickup a popcorn n coke. Always a good western on back then. Grandpa would come pick us up around 4:30 and we'd all ride out to their house for the weekend. Their house was right next to the graveyard and my older brother would tell me about the people they'd see wondering around out there at night, lmao. I was scared shitless some nights.

Those big fuzzy dice from my 57 Ford...so many gals used to take them off and rub them on them 'cause they were soooooooo soft..

A Mitchell 300 and Hurricane spinning rod for $12

Reclaimed oil in the glass jugs

5c Cokes in the green bottle

Eating peanuts the first time I poured them in a RC cola

My first time...with the homely 18 yo babysitter next door..(it was rape, I was only 14 )

Buying my first Gant shirt and my first pair of Bass Weejuns with money from my paper route

Learning to drive using my buddys 57 Chevy column shift (three on the tree)

Giving a "popcorn surprise" at the drive in theater

Jerrys Drive-In restaurant, Tampa, Fl

Putting tobacco in barns not bins.
Ridding around all night long checking the burners. Usually had several of your friends and you know a few 6 packs were killed.
Milk from the milk man. Nothing today even comes close to that flavor.
Coke in the bottle. The real, old coke that had some bit to it.
Drive in movies. <<
. Wolfman Jack.
Casey doing the top 100.
Jonny Quest on Cartoon Saturday mornings. Funny you still remember those things.
