Default U.S. declares drought-stricken states largest natural disaster area ever

The United States Department of Agriculture has declared natural disaster areas in more than 1,000 counties and 26 drought-stricken states, making it the largest natural disaster in America ever.

The declaration—which covers roughly half of the country—gives farmers and ranchers devastated by drought access to federal aid, including low-interest emergency loans.

"Agriculture remains a bright spot in our nation's economy," U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said Wednesday while announcing the assistance program. "We need to be cognizant of the fact that drought and weather conditions have severely impacted farmers around the country."

So, climate change is left-wing conspiracy theory that didn't really exist, but now does exist solely to cause massive drought to enable Obama to give more aid to lazy farmers.

Got it.

It's tough keeping up.

From the grocery store of course. Your comment is ridiculous. Of course we know where food comes from. But I would rather pay a higher price for a limited supply than have the government involved picking winners and losers in the agriculture Business.

I doubt anyone disbelieves climate change.

It's the whole, "caused by man" part.

X2. Plus interjecting climate change into this thread is kind of silly. Droughts do occur and have occured for some time. Even before morons like Algore came along.

That's why Al Gore and other Democraps started blaming Republicans for climate change years ago. They sat back and smoked weed in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and after 2000 just thinking this shit up while running to the frig getting munchies - Damn bass-turds...........

I feel for the people in these areas but haven't farmers been dealing with drought since the beginning of time?

Obummer has declared more disasters than any other president. Yet another way to spend taxpayer money.

doesn't really sound like a "disaster" to me, maybe more appropriately they should call it something else. If my yard is dead can I get some stimulus money?

It's a little difficult for farmers to just sit one or two years out and hope for rain and then start back up again as if nothing had happened. You are all bright enough to know that.

If we let the farmers go to the wall, who will farm the stuff we eat everyday.

Oh, hold on, we can buy it from abroad. I know how much people like stuff that could be made here being made elsewhere and bought in. Real good for the long-term economy that is.

However, let's politicize the drought so that we can make the weather a democrat vs republican pissing match.

Fire, flood, drought, pestilence...
