Those berets are ridiculous.... And made in China? Really? Nobody thought that maybe that would lead to some bad press?

That being said, I think the blue blazers and white pants are pretty damn American, and I'll support our athletes come hell or high water. I love the olympics and can't wait for the opening ceremony!

Ill support the athletes no matter what, the Olympics are awesome. But I think it is the most ridiculous thing to have our folks wearing anything but Made in USA. Whats next our military uniforms made in Chicom as well?!?!?How could someone make that choice not to give that contract to an American company?!?! Madness.

I would of thought they would be required to be made in the USA. I just recently completed a job down in Manteo, a federal building, and all materials had to be made in the USA. I thought to myself thats great, thats the way it ought to be. But most people would be real surpised how hard it is to find American made stuff, like gun nails or screws.

The U.S. has pushed other countries to open up their government procurement tenders and treat other countries bids the same as domestic bids. This has been an issue the U.S. has fought for in the WTO trade talks for years. So, it is difficult for the U.S. to demand access to other countries government purchases while saying no to other countries who want to sell items to our government.

Excellent point except that the US Government is not involved here.

The USOC is separate from the US Government and is a non-profit organization that relies on contributions from the US public and private business.
The main issue over these uniforms is that since the majority of the donations are from Americans then why not spend those donation dollars right here in the America.

Well then, in that case.....those nasty bastards. They should be hung upside down by their toe nails and punched in the nuts repeatedly. What were those dirt bags thinking.

They need that flag everytime they show those ridiculous French version of Thurston Howell's Yuppie Newport uniforms. This Lauren (alias Lipshitz) let me guess - he's a wanna be French designer to boot. Even The Army junked the damn baret.

I bet if there is enough of an outcry they can and will find some American manufacturers.

Now that girls Volleyball team, that's what I am talking about!!!!!

You know, it bothers me too. I proudly gave a 100 dollar bill to a G.I. with a table set up outside the publix in Merrit Island on Veteran's day.

He saluted me and gave me a cap that said "If you love your freedom, thank a veteran" looked like a really nice cap, but the tag was torn off inside the cap, I checked with him, you guessed it, made in China.

Didn't seem right to me. Patriotism seems a lost art these days.

My mom and dad were WW2 vets and I was Army. We were never allowed as kids to buy anything made in Japan, mom was Army nurse and treated Bataan Corrigedor death march survivors. Dad never forgot either.

Maybe I'm just getting old. I even have a problem with all the personal attacks on the President, he is our commander in chief and the office deserves respect even if folks disagree with him politically.

That made in China stuff is most likely a whole lot better quality than the high priced union made crap they would be forced to buy if they purchased those uniforms in this country......
