I took my newly aquired engine (attached to my boat) and they pulled up the history. It turns out this motor was sold on 3/2002, tranfered to someone else the same day, and yet again transfered to another owner, and finally transfered to the owner I purchased it from. The service dept. said they had never seen this before. paperwork mixup or cause for concern?

King:

Not with a motor, but last fall I had some warranty work done on my hot tub and the dealer was checking my warranty and found out that it was registered to a purchaser in Texas. Must have turned out ok since they didn't bill me for the work. By the way, Wyoming is a looooooong way from Texas, but not electronically.

as long as your warranty period is correct, meaning you get the time you think you should get and it is now in your name - no problem. it should have been backed out of the warranty system but as long as they transfer to you - no problem - does the engine computer tell you the hours run are what you thought?

I have not hooked it up to the computer, and I am still waiting to get a bill of sale from the previous owner. I am not sure what to do if he never sends me one. Any ideas, beside the obvious that I will not say on this board. I have to pay $50.00 and the warranty is good until 2008. It does not cover every item, but it does cover the big stuff.
