Default Caught in a Dog Food Avalanche

Went to Wally World yesterday for my Sunday morning kitchen provision run (I try to avoid the crowds by going early).

I needed to get a bag of Purina Dog Chow, and the stockpeople were kind enough to stack the 55 lb side on a pallet in the aisle. I normally pull the 50 lb bag off the shelf, but it is kinda tough on the back, plus this was a 5 lb free size.

Anyway, I didn't pay attention to the way the bags were stacked on the pallet, and you guessed it... AVALANCHE!

I had about 15 bags of dog food trap me against the floor!

Fortunately there were no injuries, but I was really pissed (both at myself and the store). A couple late shift stockpeople helped me out, but I had them call the manager to see how they had stacked this stuff.

I told the manager that if I had my 5 year old boy with me, he would have been seriously injured and she'd be working for me!

I got lots of apologies - I hope they review how they stack stuff in the aisle displays before someone really gets hurt.

Glad you are alright. You know, it seems as though an IQ of 10 is the maxmimum qualification for any regular employee at Wally World. The only folks I have ever been especially impressed with are the retired fellas that like to work in the gun/fishing section and of course the greeters!

And they wonder why they get sued ;? Not everyone in this world would claim that they were not injured. I can hear it now.. My back, my neck, I need a free ride.
Got to agree with the IQ of 10.

I was in a grocery store the other day and saw a stack of canned soup in the cardboard half boxes they ship them in stacked higher than my head and it was wobbeling. I made an employee get the manager while I stood there watching to make sure it didn't fall. I told the manager that if it fell on someone they would own that store. No apologies or anything. Noone seemed to care. As an insurance agent, I was appalled. If one of my commercial clients had that nonchalant attitude about such a dangerous situation, I'd have them nonrenewed or cancelled in a heartbeat. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the danger in some of these situations.

BTW Tidester, I'm very glad to hear that you were uninjured in your situation. There is no excuse for that.
