Sounds like she deserved the fine and time.

If only the court could tack on a bill for room and board while she's in the pen.

That's only about two miles from where I'm sitting in my office.

Oh, 4.2 miles, I mapped it.

Glad it happened but let's see how much time she really spends in there.
Do they have to pay anything back?

Shamsha Mirza Vasaya also was ordered to pay restitution in the exact amount of the money she stole from the government: $557,421.32, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Good luck with that.

"The woman not only let customers buy goods not allowed under the federal food stamp program, customers told Channel 2 she charged more for goods bought with the stamps than with cash -- demanding $10 for a $5 pack of cigarettes, for example."

Looks like she worked both the taxpayer and the customers.

Interesting that Google has no mugshot of Shamsha Mirza Vasaya, no pics of her at all.

Federal mugshots have been ruled "not" public record, for some reason.

It takes two to tango.

She wasn't doing it right. For every food stamp card customer she was supposed ring up $100 in invisible "approved groceries" and give the customer back $50 in cash so they could then spend the $50 in the store on booze and smokes.

Arrest whatever jackwad government officials came up with the food stamp program anyway. Big waste of our money. Its simple economics, incentives matter. Give someone an incentive to not work and guess what, they wont. Did the store clerk mess up? Of course but so did the idiots in our government by devising a system thats so easy to cheat.
