Default Country songs?

Never really been into country, my mother was obsessed with it growing up and I got sick of it. If I hear Dolly Parton or Kenny Loggins I think I will hang myself.

But it seems that some of the newer country music has a little more of a rock, or at least southern rock sound.

Last weekend there was a boat near us playing some of this kind of country and it didn't sound bad. Maybe if I can find a few songs that I like I'll add them to the iPod.

What are some good artists to look at that are into this kind of country?

Anything good gets to play on the rock stations anyway.

It's very evident that you young_uns don't have a clue as to what REAL country music sounds like !!! Try Ray Price, George Jones, Conway, Loretta, Johnny, Willie and even Emmylou or Waylon.

No...I do know what real country is. I don't like it. I was asking about country that has a little southern rock twang.

Yeah I knew a couple from Zac Brown. Also Jason Aldean has a couple decent ones.

Brantley Gilbert is pretty good, Jason Aldean has done several covers of his tracks.

Texas Country is great! :D
I also like more Alt-Country. Try out Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown, The Old 97s, Calexico, and the Thrift Store Cowboys.

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Awesome. Not country, not rock, not southern - but lots of all those things rolled into one. Roger used to be the lead singer for the Refreshments and hails from here in Tempe. Will be seeing him live (yet again) at Circus Mexico next weekend in Puerto Penasco. Great concert under the stars on the beach!

Little bit a chicken fried, cold beer on a Friday night.....

Personally, Im an old country guy. I dont consider new country real country, butbthats my opinion. I do though play the country stations out on the water. Dumbassius Rucker is not country! I remember he played my companies Christmas party a few years back. I thought, dagum we are spending some money....one week later he was doing Burger King commercials. The following year was Travis Tritt...very cool!

The Hank Williams Jr. 'Live' is about as good as it gets. Current Zac Brown's very good amongst some others.
Here's a little tune I wrote, It starts off tellin a story a true story with my present wife of 12 years soon to be and it went a little like this:

Well one day me and my sugar britches was up in Alabama fishin on the Tallapoosa River and we'd been seein each other for awhile and this particular day I just happened to have a nice set of gold rings with diamonds in my pocket and it went a little like this after I asked her to marry me.

Well I Just made love to my honey
Now I'm drinkin a drink
smokin a smoke
and admirein the diamonds on her finger

Been a good 12 years come next Friday.
