Default What is with all the crime in S.Fl.?

Living in NH, the amount of personal property crime that is talked about in S. Florida is just insane. I have also lived in NY, Boston and Chicago. While there is no shortage of crime in these areas, it does not seem to be to the same level (with some violent crime for good measure).

What gives? I am down there a few times per year and for the most part it seems fairly affluent. Is it cops just not having enough resources, or do they just cut people loose all the time. I would think with the money down there, this should be under control.

Or maybe I am just jaded because big crime around here is a few DWI's and hunting out of season.

Not trying to start anything, really just dont get it.

Compared to where you live,
- the Greater Miami has 3X the population of the entire state of NH.
- there's a lot of money in South Florida (thus, more to steal)
- the property crime season is year-round, unlike the iceboxes where we live
- the gentle thieves and bunko artists have been chased out of Chicago, Detroit, New York and Boston by violent criminals. So, they ran to S. Fla

Some of the above may actually be true.

Easy. They don't want to work.

Here's a link to one of our finest, not too bright as he went a little too far. Over a five week period spent more than 20% of his on duty time in strip clubs.

It's gotten to the point where that word really doesn't mean much anymore. Today it's mostly used to label anyone that's not an Obama supporter....

Really not looking for a fight, just keep hearing of all these boats getting ripped off. Maybe I am little more sensitive to the boat crimes.

well the boat theft is different from the general theft.

the boats are all about drug and immigrant trafficing.

the general theft is all about the poor, the tired, the generational welfare recipients that find it far easier to steal than work for a living.

additionally, i would say that from the places that i have traveled, S FL is very unique in that the demographics and social economic level can change drasticly from street to street. so everyone is on top of each other. its a bike ride from the government housing to the uber rich water front homes.

A lot more boats in and around Miami then in NH, year round. Boats are pretty easy targets, they sit tied up in places where people sleep at night or in a marina where anyone that looks like a boater can walk onto almost any boat and if they look confidant can stick a key in and take off. If they are good a hot wore isn't a time consuming thing.

You also have to remember that in any big city there are places to walk and places you don't walk. I've been to Miami a dozen times to visit friends and family and have never felt threatened. But I could get off the wrong exit and not come out alive too.

general theft: meth heads, pot heads, crank heads, X heads, coke heads, oxy heads are GENERALLY responsible for GENERAL theft crimes, ie. burglary .

All started in the 70's when Jimmy Carter put his philanthropist policy in place and welcomed Castros prison population.

Also the real estate fiasco in Florida is one of the harder states hit overall. Trickle down event.

We have favorable weather year round. It's almost never to cold to go out and steal something. No snow days either. We also have an over abundance of lazy, uneducated low life, pill popping, drinking trash.

Know that nobody on THT would do anything like this, but could some be looking to upgrade boats or electronics via insurance?????

New Hampshire has 13 miles of coastline. Florida has around 2300 miles. More water, more boats, more people, plus year round nice weather......
