Default Name 5 states you'd never move to.

What are the top 5 states that you'd never move to? To keep the playing field level the states must be states you can boat in.

No particular order:

Alaska, too cold
NY, beautyful but taxes are too high
RI, I just don't think of the State
Il., I view the state as depressed
NH, again too cold.

New Jersey - Too restrictive and the Joisey attitude leaves me cold
New York - Crowds, snow and attitude.
Massachusetts - Too liberal and astonishingly high taxes
Michigan - Why move in when everybody is moving out?
Illinois - Chicago represents everything that is wrong in politics.

Where would I live? Hawaii - It is summer all year, no boat theft, warm water and property taxes are one quarter of one percent. Yeah, $250 per 100,000 on anything left after you take the $300,000 homeowners exemption. Sales tax is 4.166% and there is no tax on private party transfers of boats and vehicles.

Seen the thread title and was going to come over and post the same thing.
X2............

Always though I would love to live in Florida but after reading you guys post the last 3 years about the BS that goes on down there, add Florida to my list.
Tcontic. We agree. For those that can't get past that part of history , its a sad deal. For those that grew up long after that issue we think the ones that still live it need to stay where they are.

I will never move. And whatever are the hottest are the top 5
maybe GA MS AL NM AZ? Would never move to FL just cause of the old farts and conjestion and knowing that is where Northerners go to die - just too depressing for this older bloke- going to a shopping mall during the weekday day around here is bad enough. Gonna visit there in Sept to see my fellow Nam squad leader buddy who will have his boat up from the VI at Ft. Myers - am looking forward to that 40 year reunion!

Oops didn't see the boating requirement - so add MD (traffic) and SC (FT Jackson was hotter and as humid as Nam!) - instead of NM and AZ.

I think it would be easier to name 5 (maybe 10) states that I would live in.

Requirements:

easy access to salt water
winters with little or no snow
strangers that wave for no reason
low population density
reciprocal laws for my conceal carry permit
an area away from tourist
low crime

I already live in one of the few places that meet the requirements. You can pick your spots starting on the NC coast and follow it south till you hit Texas and there's a few places along the way that I'd live in.

It would be easier to name the 5 states I would ONLY move to.

Do US territories count?

St Thomas USVI
Hawaii
California
Texas
South Carolina

Basically I have to be where there is open salt water.
