Default We had a shuttle flyover here in DC today... Took some video of it.

I went up to the roof of my office building this morning to catch the flyover of the Boeing 747 carrying shuttle Discovery enroute to its' final resting place at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum near Dulles airport.

I took the video with my blackberry bold, so not the greatest quality and certainly there are better videos floating around the net. In any event I had the pleasure of watching shuttle Columbia lift off from Cape Canaveral many years ago when I was a kid. Watching the shuttle make its' final flight today was very cool to see and I tried to not let the thought of the fact that it cost the taxpayers $25M to transport the thing jade the experience

Fishn'Fool, Took the son over to the cape early this morning and we got to watch the shuttle take off, we were at Jetty Park on the coast. Park is only a few miles from NASA, it was a really amazing site to see, the pilot did a number of "fly overs" for all the ex NASA employee's.

Something I know I will not forget. The family and I will be heading up to New York to see the Enterprise this summer in it's new digs on the Intrepid in Manhattan as well.

Nice job with the video.

Thanks man. It was a VERY cool site indeed, wish my son's were with me to experience it. Will take them to the Air and Space museum to see it after they get it set up.

What was amazing to me was how small the shuttle looked on the back of that plane and that shuttle is NOT small by any stretch.

Sad. To see it being carried away from future launches, instead of towards them. I know they've served their purpose, but it's still sad to see them go...

The neighborhood around here has gentrified big time for sure. You need to walk a long way to find a bad side of town now, well at least until the "occupy dc" crew moved in; man did they destroy the park at McPherson Sq.

I have not been to Harrys in a long time, but on occasion hit Shelley Back Room for a cigar and a drink. Unless I am working I do my best to get the hell out of the city.

You know....maybe that is part of what's wrong with this country these days. We don't have a single cause that EVERYONE can get behind, and the current POTUS doesn't have a clue how to make that happen.

Maybe we should be planning a large manned mission to Mars? Another hoover dam? something....There needs to be a common cause, other than a war, although Iran seems to be content on giving us a cause.

The Shuttle being retired is just the opposite.

Cool video though, I liked seeing all the people on the adjacent building doing the same thing too.
