Default R/C truck guys

I have a Traaxxs T-Maxx thats a little old but still runs fine (i think). Anyway today I was changing out the EZ start to a normal pull start I took the engine off and tried to clean it up a little with some PB blaster and wipe some of the crud off of it. I put it back together and it started up and ran a second or two and shut off. So i leaned the carb a little and got it idling right and it stayed running on the table so I put it on the floor and drove it a little until it started smoking real bad from it looked like around the engine. It was a white smoke like burning oil, it normally has a little blueish tint to it when it comes out of the cars exhaust I didnt notice much out of the exaust.

My question is: Do you think the white smoke is the PB burning off the engine or do I have a problem?

Once I saw the white smoke I turned it off. I tried a few more times but once I set it on the floor and drove it some it would start with the white smoke again, I didnt want to burn it up. I checked all of the screws I took out and they were all tight, everything that is supposed to have a screw in it does.

I havent run it a nearly 2 years but once I changed out the ez start to the pull start it started right up. When I put it away 2 years ago I winterized it like the book says.

Thoughts?

It could certainl be the PB blaster burning off. Sounds to me like it didn't smoke right away, but did once it got hot. You can't really hurt themn at idle. If it is running and starting easily its probably assembled right. Does it shoot some nice blue smoke out of the exhaust when you pull the trigger? If so, just run it. The worst that can happen is you send the engine back to Traxxas for their $100 trade-in program.

I didnt notice any blue smoke with all of the white smoke. The truck is an '06 does traxxas honor that trade in for any age engine??

Im going to get some fresh gas for it in the am and a new glow plug, maybe that will help.

There's just something about owning an RC truck and a boat that just goes together doesn't it?

Can't help with the problem but good luck!

Run it.
And like Keith.... Said... What goes together is that they both cost a ton of money to run.
You can never stop tricking out your rc truck. By the time I was done with my Savage I had over $700 in parts and meds alone. Glad that's over with.... So is the wife

I have the HPI Savage XL 5.9. This thing is a beast. Lots of fun. But it's so loud it pisses off the neighbors.

Traxxas has 100% effin awesome Cust Serv. Give them a call to troubleshoot and ask about warranty. You wont be disappointed.

I called the just a couple months ago about a XL-5 elec. motor and they just shipped a new one without asking.

I have a Revo. I would just run it and see what happens. Pretty good chancce it is just the PB Blaster. I mean really there is nothing else there.
