Default Ever Been Robbed???

Haven't been on my dock for about 2 weeks. Went down there last night and got on the boat only to discover that my FF/GPS was gone. There is that intial shock of "I must have taken it off myself" but when you discover that the power cable, transducer cable, and gps cable are CUT, that shock subsides and gives way to ANGER. Then you start looking to see what else is gone and yes, the stereo is gone too. Buy wait a minute, why didn't they take the VHF that was mounted right beside the stereo??? Oh, and why didn't they clean out the EBOX?? There is plenty in there to take. They did manage to take everything out of the dash. But... everything is still in the console (at least I think it is, I haven't gone through everything).

Man, I'm pissed. Can't imagine how you guys that have had your whole rig stolen must feel.

"Lost" 3 fishing poles last year.

Felt violated with the foot print on my deck.

Had left poles in the rocket launchers for years without issue. There are always people on our docks and we know everyone that should be there. I guess it was middle of night. So muc for the security guard. He must have been sleeping.

Now they have to come off the boat everytime.

Sucks.

Kids or druggies. Don't even know what they are getting - that's like half way between theft and vandalism...

Yea, the theft is obvious, I no longer have the devices. The vandalism is the cut wires. Now I have to unrun all cabling only to rerun all cabling.

Like fichtion, I've left these devices mounted on the boat for years. Now they are gone. I'll have to come up with a security plan.

BTW- My boat is on my dock that is in my front yard. I can see my boat from the kitchen.

My neighbor is out of town. I went down and took everything out of his boat including his electronics and have secured them in my house. I'd hate to see him get shafted too.

Had my truck stolen when I was 17. Very angry after the initial shock wore off. Get home from a baseball tournament, ask the parents, older brother, Grandpa (he was a prankster) "Hey, where's my truck?" All summer working to fix it up-wheels, tires, stereo, etc. gone. Found in Jax, FL on the side of the road sitting on the rotors, seats cut for no reason, radio gone and I had the faceplate so it was no good, several hundred in CD's. That was my 1st lesson w/ ins. It was all "covered" and I had receipts. Got about a third of the value. I hate thieves w/ a passion.

I went down to my boat last weekend to finish getting it ready to go in water and found the swim ladder down, thought I had put it up. Noticed the boat was dirty around the engine room day hatch, looked in my batteries were gone. They also took my shore power cords and extension cords.

five other boats were also robbed over two week period. It was dirt bag junkies for sure but I'm also pissed at the dirt bags at the recycling place. Tell me they don't know the stuff is stolen when they come in over and over with perfectly good batterys and shore power cords.

Sounds like a targetted theft to me. That's all they wanted for their boat so they took yours instead of replacing a bad unit.

Old boat: once (electronics)
beach house: twice (electronics and jewelry)
mainland house: once (jewelry)
new shop: twice (misc goods in office, and trailers broken into, nothing stolen however)
old shop: around 4 or 5x (auger, scrap metal and copper)

It sucks. Feel absolutely violated, lose faith in people... Well over 6 figures worth of goods combined over the past 10 years. Haven't had much luck with insurance or getting our stuff back but in a few cases (houses and auger), the people involved were caught which is reassuring.

They often pull up to boats in dingys and bypass any security checks to the dock access. At night of course and I imagine wouldn't even have to get out if they could just reach up and remove poles from holders.

I live in a very secluded area on a 15,000 acre lake. My closest neighbor is a 3/4 mile as the crow flies, so I guess I am an easy target. I had a 15' flat with a 20 Merc. stolen from my boat house, along with 4 dozen decoys and all the stuff you normally have in a boat (batteries, life jackets, paddle, gas, trolling motor, etc.). About a year later they got the props off all three boats in the boat house. Several years later they got every thing that wasn't bolted down off my pontoon in the boat house, cleaned out the store room in the boat house, and cleaned out a 15 ft flat that was on its trailer in the yard. They even trashed the transom getting a 30 Merc. off the flat. The flat and 30 was purchased to replace the flat and 20 that had been stolen previously. My house has been broken into twice, small amount of money and electronics both times. They even took a 6x6 elk rack that was lagged into a post on the back porch. I will shoot a thief if I can catch one in the act. Damn a thief to hell!!

Yes I have been robbed, many years ago as a teenager working at a fast food joint.

You on the other hand were burgled, not robbed.

Back in the day I had two guys try to rob me, but it didn't work out very well for them, as it turned out I was better armed than they were.....
Have had five or six attempts by burglars trying to get in our home, but the alarm system, neighborhood watch, and the police got the better of them each time....
The boat hasn't been touched yet, thankfully......

Had my car broken into in high school (20 years ago). Had my stereo, radar detector, and over 90 CDs stolen. With CDs costing 15-20'bucks back then, u was out a ton of money for a high school kid. Learned my lesson and am extra cautios now. I was very angry at the time and cops did zilch.

Car stereo/etc when I was in college.....couple year later my first boat (22 yrs old) had the VHF and stereo stolen. What really sucked was that they broke the cabin door and paneling that cost more to replace than the stuff they stole.

I won't call the police if I catch a thief, but I will visit Home Depot for a shovel and some sod.

I prefer the Ryobi sawzall and those handy 'Contractor' garbage bags.

Then it's off to the hog farm.

Owned a food distribution business in Philadelphia. Was robbed at gun point by two inner city youths twice in six months. Sold the business.

GPS stolen from my boat and compartments ransacked about 2 years ago - my boat (skiff) was in my slip, and is likely the smallest/cheapest boat at the marina . . .

Now protected by .45ACP . . .

Had my truck broke into in Atlanta<---bleh.

Took my radio head unit and broke my door. I got in the truck and noticed gone and was like, "how the hell did that fall out?" Then I looked around the floorboard and didn't see the radio and it still took me a minute to figure it out. Once I figured it out I was pissed. Called the cops but they didn't care at all.
