Most people here don't care. It's all about killing s#it, bitching about any conservation measures, complaining about manatee zones and talking about guns. You're barking up the wrong tree.

It's sad as hell, and the people who should care (THT Members) don't give a rats a$$ for the most part.

Hints why I'm the first response you got.

Conservative based forum.
NO such thing as global warming. Deregulations are good for the economy (just not in my neighborhood). Higher cancer rates improve the medical field, thins the population, and makes gas cheaper so I can fill up my yatch. Provide a link that pollution is bad for the environment and 100 years of data to back that up with 20 conservative scientist that work for Exxon to sign off on it. Lets check what Rush Limbaugh says about this subject before posting. In 2 million years you wont even know man kind was on the planet earth.

"Is Global warming taking place" and "what is the cause of global warming" are two different questions.

Are you blaming the Japanese for their tusnami that will contribute to the patch? Are you blaming sailors for their weather caused ship wrecks that contribute to the patch? Are you blaming home owners for their storm caused losses that contribute to the patch?
I've been a boater all my life, and I've seen damned little littering or trash deposited in our oceans by man's direct intent.
All in all, man is a damned good steward of our ocean environments.......

"All in all, man is a damned good steward of our ocean environments......."

Please tell me that was a sarcastic remark. Because I could not for the life of me think of how that argument could be supported.

How many cities do you think use the oceans and fresh water lakes/ rivers as their so called land fill dump?

Here in the US? I sure know the EPA carries a big stick where I live. And has put all of our lead mines out of business among other things.

I don't think people are blaming those things for the problem. Its a bigger problem of all the pigs that seeem to use our world as their trash can. They toss their crap out the window then when it rains it runs down the storm drains into our waters.

Actually, I agree. The improvement in ecological knowledge since the 50's, for example, is huge. I think we in the US have made great strides forward.

As far as "no one gives a crap", disagree. Nothing non-biodegradable goes in the ocean from my boat. In the late 90's I gave up the opportunity to fish a nice boat in nice waters because the owner refused to quit throwing all trash in the ocean.

I control what I can and that is all I can do.
