Default Beretta 92fs

They are a good gun. I bought a military version of one back a few years ago when my son was going in the Army knowing it was going to be his side arm. I got it to help him get familiar with shooting it and be able to troubleshoot any issues quickly. I still have the gun and it hasn’t been used since. I believe that with so many smaller, lighter and better choices out there I rarely see anyone shoot them. My son now carries a HK in .40 cal as his side arm as a border agent. I am a diehard 1911 & AR, fan myself.

I seem to like Beretta 92fs guns and its different versions. It seems nobody else does. Is there any real reason why nobody likes them. Other than they are 9mm?

1) If you are shooting 9mm, do you really need a full size gun? Something mid size might make more sense.
2) Since I live in Mass, we are stuck with neutered 10 round mags. It seems silly to have something that big and only hold 10 rds of 9mm.
3) For single action pistols like a 1911, a manual safety is a must for carrying cocked & locked. For sa/da guns, a lot of us would rather not have a manual safety, but just a decocker. For dao, although Glocks don't seem to feel comfortable in my hand, I love their simplicity - you squeeze the trigger and it goes bang.
4) If you don't like 9mm, you can always get a 96 in .40 instead of a 92.
5) It's not that people don't like them, it's just that there are so many other guns to like even more.

I bought a few other pistols and sold them off already. I haven't sold a 9mm yet. I got the s&w 1911 pro in 9mm but I tried it a couple times and it just sits in the safe. I actually like shooting 22lr and just bought a sig p238 in case I ever thought I would carry.. I don't anticipate carring but if I thought I needed to I could. The little sig p238 is as good as the 1911 and 92fs. I like the 92/96 so much I started collecting Ma compliant versions. I just never hear of anyone else even intrested in them. Makes it easier to grab the collectables though

Really, we can only have so many forums on the main page.
I don't really remember if there was a active sports thread I had to skip over to get to other threads on dockside every time I came to see what was going on. Just like guns, I'm not sure I see gun threads every time I come here.. Can I suggest.... if you make a dedicated " gun" forum, can you not make it a sticky so now.... every single time I come to dockside I have to skip over .. the ... Now there is a sports forum...Before there were plenty of times I didn't have to do that what was the purpose I'm seeing it now more than I ever have

I was just trying to think of any reasons why they wouldn't be people's favorite. I think I go through phases - I've been shooting way more 9mm than the bigger stuff (40,44, & 45) lately. A friend of mine has both the vertec and the brigadier, so they're out there.

My 2 cents. If you haven't tried a Glock 19 compact 9mm, do it. I had never looked at Glocks because the other gun guys I know are anti-Glock snobs, but one day I rented a 19 at the local range. Holy Cow! That thing shoots exactly where I think I'm aiming it! So, I bought one- same thing. As 9mm handguns go, it's far and away the best one for me. 15 rounds, small enough for concealed carry, absolutely flawless reliability, shoots both regular and +P+ loads equally well- what more could I want?

Not related I guess,,,, but while we are on the subject of Glocks... I was having lunch the other day at a local burger joint - seated next to us were around 10 LEO's .....

As they exited - I checked out what they were carrying ..... Every last one of em had Glocks...

Thats gotta tell you something and why my G27 is on or near me most of the time... and when its not - My Sig 229 is .... :-)
