They should strip her of her lottery winnings for defrauding the public trust.

Uh, she won $700,000 cash (in detroit, no less) and she has two run down houses and drives a mid 90s chevy cavalier?

I wonder where the $ went. Doesn't look like she is exactly rolling in dough to me, although pretty clear that the "lump sum" disbursement was a bad idea.

Hate to tell you, but she's not even the biggest money winner in Michigan still on food stamps.

Get this- lottery winnings are not counted as income when calculating eligibility for food stamps.

Here in Pa a friend of mine that works at the local grocery store told me that the food stamp program gives the user a credit card that they can use at the help counter to get cash...

WTF?

The whole system is ********* up...

My solution...

The program needs to open up a whole bunch of (Food Stamp) stores...

1 - You can only buy food from these state funded stores..
2 - No cash to anyone with food stamps.. They must buy the food that is provided by the store they shop at..
3 - No liquor and no cigarettes and all foods must be of a healthy nature. (why feed them high fat foods so they can then grub off of our health care system...
4 - Food can be bought from companies that manufacture and grow there food only in the USA...

The store can provide jobs for the local economy and take a few people off of food stamps..

Sorry if I sound bitter but, I am self employed and pay $1000.00 a month for health care for my family...

Don't think this will ever happen. Florida is the latest to try it and that system is now suspended. Unfortunately, from what I am reading, legal precedent supports that they should get the money and not be drug tested.

I think that is a terrible idea, I say cut the entire program, when you are in need you go to either your family or your church for assistance. If you don't have one, then you sure better have the other.

So

are any of you self employed??

For all I know, she might need to win the lottery twice to get to making $0 for the year.. don't people who end up with $0 deserve food?

Question

I am NOT defending the food-stamp woman who won the lottery BUT do you really think her stairs lead to the attic?

What was wrong with the old way? They didn't hand out food chits of any kind, you went to a distribution center and picked up your government cheese and canned chicken meat or whatever.

I've heard there are crops rotting because we have no one to pick them. This woman is 24 with nothing wrong with her. I think we should send these kind of folks to pick those crops give them a pay check. When I was 24 I had three jobs dish washer construction clean up prep cook. Today you hear people won't do those jobs and they get a check for sitting on their butt.
