Nice. Even worse, Let me hear even a peep about the GSA making those girls pay the money out of their pockets. It would only add insult to injury

Could you imagine I'd never buy a girl scout cookie again and call ever news outlet there is.

The troop gets robbed on every box sold. They make like 50 cent.

I buy a minimum of a case every years. With that said, I do believe that having kids hock your product is child labor exploitation. The kids work for free under the guise of a 'fund raising'. Meanwhile the compnay doesn't actually share profits, they mark up the product price and give the scouts/school/football team/PTA the remainder.

Asking strangers for money on street corners is a good skill to have. It may come in handy someday.

No, the company sells the GS the product and they mark it up to make a profit. I guess the company could sell them the product at their cost and let the GS make all the money.

That is a new low, I still believe these organization's are good, would you rather meet a group of young people actually doing something like earning merit badges? Or meeting young trouble makers hanging out at the convenience stores? God I am starting to sound like my father.

This^^^

My girls bust their a$$es selling cookies every year only to see a small share of the profits. When my wife told me what percentage they actually earn I told her the girls were done! If I'm not mistaken, the cookie company gets the lions share, then the Girl Scouts organization, then everyone else with their hands out and whats left trickles down to the actual girls and their troops .

Well who do you think should get the majority of the money? The groups get plenty for no investment. They are not entitled to the lions share. I would rather see it this way than another government handout. Let the kids work for what they get and use, for instance girl scout camps. They cost lots of money. It also teaches kids some degree of marketing, business and work ethics. I guess they could just ask Obummer for it, like everyone else.

I agree that the cookie company should get the lions share, they are the ones who produce a product but don't tell me the groups get plenty for no investment. My girls are out there for hours on weekends and sometimes after school selling THEIR product for pennies on the dollar. What good is having a product if you have no means of moving it? Oh I know, lets use it under the guise of teaching them marketing and business skills, right. Are you aware that whatever the girls don't sell the parents have to buy? Must be nice to opeate a risk free business with free labor. I would rather pony up the cash for whatever my kids troop needs, no need to ask Obummer for it.

EDIT: I can't believe I'm on a fishing forum arguing about GS cookies. Sorry.

The fact of this story is not the shares of money the Girls make. It is that low life peices of shit robbed children who are working hard to earn money for something they care about! These girls have more work ethic and drive than the grown adults that did this. This is what is wrong with America, the same "Peices of shit" that stole from the Girl's; more than likely, get some sort of government hand out. Possibly Medicaid, WIC, Public Housing, something! I would be shocked if I was wrong.

And then the reaction up here is how little the Girl's make. What would you rather the Girl's Scout's didnt exist? They didn't sell cokies? I guess then they would not get robbed. I think the local police and LE need to have approval to start cracking down and there should be more severe punishment for actions like this. Our judicial system is a joke, that is why assholes like these never think twice about stealing, robbing, and other crimes that are often committed. If there were more severe or true punishment then people would seriously think before doing something like this. Jail's are over crowded, cases get continued for up to 2-3 years before trial. Most cases like these never get heard, 30 days of jail time and they are right back out on the streets. If they are in custody then they get a lot of Oppurtunities that the majority people in the world do not get. 3 meals a day, health care, some chances for education, work release programs so they can have a "smooth tranisiton" when released back in the world. Go try that dumb sh** in another country and see what happens to you!

Your right, guess I got a little side tracked.

I'm glad my kids are into scouting, it does teach them valuable life lessons and keeps them grounded. It takes a special kind of turd to prey on the innocence of a child trying better herself.

I agree, it is sad. I am thankful there are organizations out there that are fully intented to help teach children morals, hard work, ethics, etc. I can tell you, they cannot learn that on Television or from watching our "great leaders" in this country.

Sorry I rambled on, it just upsets me that people would do something so low. Go rob a bank or something, little girls who are selling cookies? Really?

Red I did not mean for my response to be smart assed. Sorry. And no I did not realize that the parents had to buy the cookies that do not sell. My kids were in Indians guides and Indian Princess's. One thing I will bet on though, is that you will be proud of your girls for achieving the goals they set for themselves. And again I really hope they catch the scum who stole the money.
