What 14-16 Megapixel Camera Do you Suggest?

The Nikon Coolpix S3100 that I purchased xmas time has spent more time at the repair center than the time I had it. Nikon has no friggin clue as to when parts will be available. I will NEVER buy a NIKON camera again as their Customer service just sucks.

So that leaves Cannon and some others, what's your OP, I don't want to spend more than $100.00

This camera is a little more than you want to spend but has great optical zoom for a point and shoot. It also has the Leica lens which is also highly rated.

I doubt you will find a 14-16 meg pocket camera for less than $100. Anywhere.

You need a sharp lens to take really crisp (in focus) pictures. Top pocket cameras will run $300-450. Here is a top model and one for $100.

Canon S100 IS - great lens & pics. 12 meg Abt $400

Canon A800 - good value for $80-90 10 meg

I have had Nikon bodies and lens for years. Service was good when I needed it. Maybe the pocket camera service is a different animal.

Go with Canon for pocket cameras.

I agree- Canon for pocket cameras. I've been very happy with mine. Here's one in your price range:

You'll have a hard time telling the difference between 12 and 14 megapixels.

X2 on the Canon Powershot ELPH. I have had a 2.5MP a 5MP Currently have the 12 or 13Mp one. nice size and fits in your pocket. It's more than the regular powershot but I think it's worth paying for the smaller size.

Out of your price range, unless you can find the older model TS3. The new one is a Panasonic Lumix TS4. It's waterproof, shockproof, dust proof, and compact. It takes amazing pics and HD video. http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/compa...ft4/index.html
You'll never have to worry about breaking it.

Nikon Coolpix S3100 $80.

"Can a powerful camera fit in the palm of your hand? Yes, if itís the ultra-light, ultra-thin COOLPIX S3100, engineered with a 14.0-megapixel CCD sensor that assures superb image quality with every shot."

I had no idea that you could buy a camera for that kind of money. :o When I went from my old SLR to digital, I donated over $3000 of equipment and bought a Kodak with lenses, and filters for a few hundred till I found what I wanted. I've still got the Kodak 10 +yrs later and I'm amazed and confused by all the products available.

BTW, I learned photography with a Speed Graphic that was handed down to me from my father who bought it new as a professional. I never got the "bug" to put the time and money into being much more than a point and shot picture taker.

Back to your camera. I doubt that any camera company is putting a lot of repair service into a $80 camera. I'd suggest getting a refund or see if they'll send you a new one.

That's the only rational option, however as a rule refunds don't happen. I intend on demanding an advance replacement over nighted to me otherwise cannon or panasonic sound ok.
