Anybody have experience with this company? They have some items I need, but never heard of them. Any input is appreciated.

I purchased a Sea Star hydraulic steering system from them last spring and had a very good experience. There were a few back and forth emails to determine correct product identification before the purchase and all emails were answered promptly. Shipping was fast and all went well. I had read of complaints on the net but when reading them I decided that a business cannot please everyone - so, I would purchase from them again and may do so in the very near future.

I would try calling them on the phone to make sure they have what you want in stock. Backorders are no fun and you DO NOT want to do business with a place where you can't talk to a human. Google Discount Marine Supplies review and complaint and see what you come up with. Take a look at Hodges Marine if you shy away from DMS.

G'day Gmack. I bought a number of items from them in March 2011. A full set of guages, hatches, deck plates, cleats, stainless wheel etc.

I was very happy with their pricing and especially their shipping costs (I'm in Australia) but what really jacked me off was that I had ordered a tacho with hour meter and was given 1 without the hour meter! The speedo I ordered was a 10 - 50 mph version, I was sent a 10 - 65 mph! I also did not receive any monetary refunds.

I emailed them immediately, I had already conversed with them (Christian) via email when the order was made regarding tracking numbers etc, they were able to return emails then, but funny enough when I had a problem NO BODY wants to speak to me. 4 emails later and still nobody has bothered to converse with me and I have also not had any joy using their phone number.

Then in October they send me their sales flyer via email, so they obviously have'nt lost my email address, the flyer has in bold writing across the top
Now offering the best return policy in the industry: 365 days from the date of purchase! Click for details
Once again another email sent, and again, no reply.

Its not a huge deal, I know but when I order something I expect to get what I want and if they didn't have it in stock send me an email and I would be happy to wait or select a different item.

Anyhow, thats my rant I just wish they had the decency to contact me as I would like to continue to use them but untill they do, I won't.

Hope this helps you either way, at least you being in the same country it may be a bit different.

Mick.

Defender and Genuinedealz i've done business with them and never had a problem. Another electrical supply to check is Pacergroup.net, great service and people to deal with.

Defender is legit, warehouse is 25 mins from me. If you need any big ticket Items, their big spring warehouse sale is the end of March. 15% or more, off almost everything. Prices are good at website also. I believe it runs Thurs thru Sunday.

I buy most of my boating supplies from Defender.

When I did the rewire on my boat, bought all of it from Genuinedealz.

For safety gear, I use Landfall and Hamilton.

I've ordered many things from GenuineDealz. Super fast FREE shipping. I wish they had a larger inventory-I'd order everything from them.

Pretty sure it's March 29th-April 1st.

I don't know why, but Defender's done a terrible job marketing it this year.

I too have had very good luck with Defender. I also am very satisfied with Boatfix.com though some others might disagree.

Interesting a thread about Discount Marine came up now. I was shopping their site today and the prices seem pretty good. Then I looked and saw that their address is 4 miles from me, in a residential neighborhood, and hours from salt. Just a virtual storefront I assume.
