Default I need help understanding this one (sons of guns)

I know its all for tv, soap oper horseshit for guys. So they got their hands on a ferret for Lousiana PD. First its supposed to be a non-lethal deterent for riot control. They are outfitting it with high pressure water and 40mm grenade canisters. Ok , now were putting a 1919 in the terret. First question, why does a non lethal armored car need a belt fed 30 ?and wtf is going on in lousianna were the local sherriff need this type of firepower ?

I swear I watch it just to get mad at the TV. They don't do anything original, and I can't figure out who's worse, the dad or the daughter. I wish they would put more reruns of the gator catching shows on.

Are you saying all these fancy heavily armed civilian boats are being put into place to be unleashed on the population?

It's all bullship!

I used to watch the show just cause it was about guns, **** arses, and La. Now I watch the show to see just how embarrassed the state of La. should be. It's ridiculous.

Didya look at my other thread on the SHOT show? What other reason do CIVIL police need to militarize so heavily for? Ain't like they're going to Afghanistan. Connect the dots, please.

the better question is...what were they doing with a fully operational 1919 in the first place? the NOPD officer just nonchalantly pulls it up out of the vehicle when he turns it over at their shop.

my GUESS is that it was all staged (like the rest of the show) wherein the producers acquired the surplus vehicle and the .30, and contacted NOPD to participate. i know a ton of guys with NOPD and when i get a minute i'll see what's up. no way those guys have $15K lying around to outfit that thing, much less the money to buy it in the first place

If it was a northern thing, and the sheriff had a ferret with a 1919. I would get a recoiless rifle

It's your government buying law enforcement votes with your borrowed money. If sane folks quit watching, such moronic shows would go away ...

Hahahahaha, not. Hey, no conspiracy theory or tin foil hat crap here. Simple question, really. Why do civil police agencies feel the need for heavy-duty military equipment? I mean, I understand a SWAT team having special equipment; that's their charter.

But look at some of the stuff agencies are buying and equipping their force with. Like Contenders with machine guns; the guns mentioned in this thread, etc.

How, exactly, do YOU expect that they will use those arms?
