What if you use Google to search but don't have a Google account?

Cracker 02-29-2012 05:05 PM

If you never sign in to Google have they collected info specific to me ? and can I even sign into Google?

Ghetto Lobster 02-29-2012 05:07 PM

If you search without logging in then there's no history, right?

They save everything. If you dont have any Google account then it cant be traced directly. If you sign in to Google or Google mail or Picassa, any of that stuff it can be traced in a round about way. after 18 months it is anonymized. Is that a word? google it

Libra 02-29-2012 05:24 PM

Done... thanks

osudaddy 02-29-2012 05:31 PM

I don't have a Google account but I use Google to search, so I am good right? I hope so, all other search providors e.g. Bing suck a big one.

Its scary what you guys dont know about computers. If you are not signed into an account they still know. Every computer has an IP address which is unique. Try this Google "My ip address" it will show you the address and even show you a map which gets real close. Thats just a very quick BS search.

x2.

It goes beyond just the ip address -- every computer's applications and configuration make an electronic fingerprint. You can be tracked by that profile even if you move your computer to a different ip address. "They" will know. :o

It's funny how the world used to look at Microsoft as the Great Satan. Google has become the Great Satan that we have all feared. They have more info on you that the IRS, NSA and all Govt agencies combined.

Scary shit going on here.....

seabob4 02-29-2012 09:24 PM

But Yahoo rats on Chinese dissidents. I'll stick with Google...
