I Need a Boat Lift Mechanic!!

I am in need of a boat lift mechanic, the lift works fine going down, but when I am putting the boat up, and the lift has a little weight on it the motors start clicking on and off like there is to much of a load. I have a 15,000 lb lift with a 25 seacraft on it that weighs 5k. Does anybody have any ideas? I have had an electrician out to replace all the wiring, but still nothing has fixed the problem. It is a hurricane lift, and I have called them, but they couldn't help me or warranty it!! Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you in advance,
Bryan

Check your capacitor on your motor.

When a lift starts, the motor has to overcome a lot on inertia to get it going - lack of lubrication or bad alignment makes it worse. This causes the capacitors to work really hard, and decrease their service life. The salt water environment doesn't help.

You need a multi tester and instructions from the website, either AO Smith or GE, on how to test them. Remember, a capacitor holds a charge after the power is turned off.

Depending on the lifts age, you might want to take the motors off ( boat won't fall) and take them to an electric motor guy, then you can get new brushes and lube at the same time.

Thank you everyone for the help..

The lift is only 3 years old.. So I will have them checked out and see what they say..
