Default Pirate's Cove Question

How many of you folks are planning on going down to and staying at Pirate's Cove for that thing in late May? We were going to be there around that time anyway so I made that the weekend we would be there for sure. We have to stay somewhere so I was thinking about suggesting Pirates Cove to my own personal godess as a place to stay.

What's the deal with them. How about the boat? Dock space, water, electricity? I assume they are about the same cost as any other rental with a place to park a boat.

Thom,

My wife and I rented a home (in the Sailfish Point part of P.C.) there for a week back in July 2002, directly across from the marina, on the first canal (Buccaneer Canal) - GREAT location! And it was NICE having the boat tied up at the dock out back - 20ft. or less from the home!

Most ALL of the rentals there come with "x" amount of dock space (included in the rental $'s) - our's was 20 or 25ft. - most are that much or MORE. There IS "water" at the dock but I don't remember if there was electricity?

You CAN keep your trailer UNDER the rental unit (NOT in the open or in a lot) while you're there - if it will fit. But if it won't, they have a locked/fenced area in Manteo where you can leave it.

That public ramp across the road from P.C. also comes in handy on the first and last days - literally "around the corner" from the marina!

If you go to http://www.pirates-cove.com, you can look at ALL of the rental units, prices, the individual descriptions (whether they have dock space, how many ft., which canal it's on, etc.).

Stay there - your Admiral will LOVE IT!

Regards,

Yup . . . Bruce has it right . . . this year the dates have been set for the 2-3-4 of June to avoid the long weekend madness

I called the Marina and the rental management. I can stay on the boat for the weekend, but I thought a condo may be better. The marina told me I do not need a reservation. Just call them on channel 16 on my way in, and they would assign a slip to me. The rental dept was not as helpful. They told me they will not rent for the weekend, only for a week. Call the week I am coming and if they had one unrented, they would let me rent it, nice of them wasn't it.

That is the only problem I have with them . . . but from the owners of the individual units I can see their perspective . . . if they rent their places in advance for weekends they could be losing rent for the other five days

On the positive side . . . you have a great boat that you can sleep on
