Default USPS Tracking

Does the tracking feature with USPS ever work? I am past the estimated delivery date, the package has not arrived, and the tracking info has not changed since I mailed the box.

It works perfect, it's either "in route" or "delivered"

Go back to the post office with your receipts - they told me that I could not track it as accurately as they could. however they were nowhere near the time frame they gave me when I shipped the item. Sent a box to my daughter in St. Croix - was quoted about or four days. She got it in about two weeks. Did this twice in a row - same result. Still a bargain as UPS quoted me over three hundred bucks and the USPS was about $38.

I buy things from Amazon.com that are delivered via USPS. Amazon always offers access to tracking info on these purchases. In many, many purchases, I have only once found USPS tracking information to be up-dated often enough to be useful.

Funny you started this thread. I've been watching 4 pkgs on USPS tracking sit in 3 diff locations since last Friday without moving. They all shipped at the same time from the same place, they all missed their delivery date, and they have all not made any progress since. Oh, and they are all "priority" mail. Go figure.

With that kind of 'service' it's no wonder the USPS is going bankrupt....

^^^I hear you, but USPS is so much cheaper than FEDEX or UPS.

Just looked at an email that said a couple pkgs shipped out of WA state on the 20th (Fri). I clicked on the tracking button, a pop up window shows me the status ... from USPS shipping ... the pkgs shipped on the 20th and the status is ... they picked up the two packages on the 24th (today - Tues) with no estimate for delivery.

Its never worked or been correct for me. Usually I get the "not found" message. I once got the "Delivered" message and got home and nothing was there. I called Bass Pro Shop about it and they sent me out another package. When I got home the next day my original package was in the mail box. I avoid buying anything that ships USPS.

No, it has NEVER been useful for me. Whether it be sending or receiving. Just one of the many reasons they are struggling.

Forget the tracking crap. Its a waste of your time to even think you can track through the UPS system. In my opinion UPS sucks when it comes to delivery. During the holidays I had a very nice gift shipped by the vendor on UPS. They claimed they could not locate our home so they transfered the package to the postal service who also noted they had no address as listed on the packaging label. Absolutely ridiculous in that we recieve mail daily delivered by the same carrier. To sum it up the postal service then returns the package to the vendor who proceeds to inform me that they could not make a second shipment even if I offered to pay additional freight charges. They were out of stock at that time even though the package was returned to them. Just proof of NO CUSTOMER SERVICE by UPS, USPS and the vendor. And yes the info was correct.
I'll do without before using UPS for the delivery service.

Go figure, again ... just a few minutes ago the doorbell rang -- the 4 pkgs were delivered.

For about ten years now we have sent packages back "home" to the wifes family in a town in
Ontario CANADA.(spelled out in full)
With all the proper postage and customs labels.

50% first go to Ontario, CA before getting into Canada at all.
About 10% go to Ontario, CA and are returned to us as undeliverable address.

For those of you that are USPS employees, Ontario, CA is in California.

Makes you wonder what that zip code is for.

Glad to hear it, my fishing rod is still ?????? Funny when I shiped it turning, down the insurnace was an easy decision (it was already broke), but now I am 2nd guessing myself. Warranty does require me to actually get them the broken rod.

Never have had a bit of trouble from UPS. We average about 5 deliveries a week using UPS, and in the last 10 years we've never had one problem with a delivery, or with UPS tracking......

I agree, the USPS tracking isn't very good. Like someone mentioned. It's either en route or delivered.

Here's the perfect example. Package shipped to me. This is the tracking info provided from USPS. This is from today. I removed the numbers and put x's, but other than that, this is the copy and paste from their site.

I talked to the USPS deliver women about how the inline tracking shows the packages scattered all over. She immediately said "no", the system is very good at tracking, if you work for the USPS...just the online info sucks.

As someone else mentioned above, take your tracking number to your local post office and they can tell you where your package is and who has control over it.
