That should be a lesson for those that have little bitty roll bars. Hard top or full cages. One lucky dude.

There is an amazing video from a few years ago of a Benz convertible that crashed at high speed on the autobahn. That car ricochets all over the highway before coming to a stop upside down. About 1/2 minute later the driver comes crawling out, unharmed.

Dang - that's probably my FAVORITE car to have as a "street rod" if I could afford one.

Guy was probably JUUUUUUUUST getting into 3rd.

Here's one I saw at a car show about 2 years ago - LOUD mama! Think it was a "kit", though.

Regards,

I read in a auto mag once that original cobra's had a solid front axel and if it had independent front suspension it was a replica. Would imagine factory shelbys have independant front suspension now though.

I have one. It's a back draft car. It's not a kit and I recommend them if your in the market. Mine weighs 2100 with 575hp. That's a bit of the problem with these things. They are insanely fast with nearly the same power to weight ratio as a crotch rocket.
Folks buy these and take them to the road course. I drive mine to the road course and watch. I used to race stock cars, when you put it on the track it needs to be maintained as a race car. Items need to be upgraded, bolts, suspension components, etc..the list goes on. Guys don't take this into consideration. I want mine to be ready to go on Sunday's or for a nice evening ride. The guy that crashed the one in this video didn't even have his passenger shoulder harnesses secured.

Can't imagine the "pull" that thing must have - in EVERY gear??? What kind of performance #'s?

0-60?
0-100?
Top end (that you'll ADMIT TO! )?

BEAUTIFUL car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there's a "kit car" company not too far from me that does those. Not sure what the $'s are? I'm guessing $50K or so out the door?

Regards,

It did 11.5 in the 1/4 mile at the drag strip. That was with no prep, nothing. Drive it there and go. It also has 3.08 gears in it which are really "highway" gears for these cars. The road course guys usually run 3.46 gears. It wasn't really designed to be a drag car. It will corner as fast as you have balls for.
0-60 in 3 something seconds, 3.5-3.7 seconds.
0-100 not sure but it comes up very fast. Your eyes have to be glued to the road.
Top end I have no idea, but they've proven to be limited to around 190-195 due to aerodynamics. That's why Carol came out with the Daytona Cobra. It aerodynamically could do over 200. Right at 220 if I'm not mistaken.
I have my rev limiter set at 7000rpm. It's really hard to describe from about 3800 to 7000. It sounds like all hell's breaking loose and everything's a blur.

Here's a couple cool video's. First one shows 0-100.

New vs old with 500K bet on it.

This is stupidly dangerous and not me, but you can see they'll run with crotch rockets.
