Default Final exams - rant

As if finals week was not stressful enough, my professor make it 100000x worse today. Shes an adjunct prof teaching positive psych at my school, Csikszentmihalyi, Seligman, Frankl, etc. Should have been a good test since we were learning about Flow and whatnot, WRONG!!! Since shes adjunct and I didn't want to wait until 7pm tomorrow to take the test with her there, I opted for the alternate time today. On the last day of regular class, she tells us there will be 1 essay and no short answers. I finish the multiple choice (which had multiple questions listed more than once), I get to the essay write it up, and turn the page and what do I find, but three more questions with no istructions, numbered2,2,3. Two of those questions were the same as the ones from the previous page. The page following that one was titled "Short Answer, 10 points each" numbered as follows: 3,4,5,6. Two or 3 of them were also previously listed the essay sections. Great, now what? Adding up the point values, this thing is based on 160 points. Long story short, the exam proctor sent a classmate upstairs to the office to see if they could get in touch with the professor. Ended up only having to write the one essay which was good. Still, it was an added bit of stress that I really did not have the patience to deal with. Moral of the story, PROOF READ YOUR WORK

Sorry for the rant. I'm tired, stressed, and needed to vent a little

Think that's bad....just wait until you start to deal with the public! Probably good practice for you.

Good luck on all your exams!!!!!

When a proffessor takes that little time in making a test, they will usually take even less time grading it. Don't worry about what you wrote down, because you are going to be getting whatever your average was in that class anyways.

I had a couple of professors like this. For my Macro Econ class, we had a 25 page paper that was due when we took our final exam. It was supposed to be 40% of our final grade. We got the assignment on one of the first days of class. One of those projects you're supposed to be working on all semester. I started mine about 3 days before the exam.

My macro exam was the final one I was taking that semester. I was so friggin anxious to get out of school that I forgot to turn in the paper. I didn't realize this until 3 days later when I was back home. I only had one copy and it was what I had printed. No file on a disk or computer anywhere. Started to freak out. Thought for sure I was going to fail the class getting a 0 on that paper. My only option was to try and scan the paper and email it to the professor. I tried for hours trying to get it to scan with no luck so I pretty much said $%^& it. I went and checked online to see if our grades had been posted. I got a B+ on the paper.

While at University I seldom used to take exams. I was studying Business and Law at the same time, but my background was in sciences.

The first year I was there I proof read/took a Chemistry exam for a junior professor. He wanted me to see if I could spot any problems with the exam even though "I know you don't know the subject matter". In a Good Will Hunting sort of way I aced the exam, (I had done a Chemistry 'A' Level the previous year), while pointing out some ambiguities.

It really got quite bizarre from that point on. I was the go-to-guy for professors/teachers. I sat my final accountancy exam about 2 months before anyone else, but couldn't tell anyone, because I was proofing it. I did do one bad thing though, I can't remember the specifics, but I coached my room-mate on what to study for his maths exam. He didn't know that I'd already taken the exam.

It shouldn't really matter but when I think of it, it bothers me. I take some solace in the fact that he was willing and dedicated but was just a bit thick. He now has a very successful career and in many ways is doing much better than I am!

No you dont! I've tried to erase the image from my mind. Thought she was going to spontaneously combust on more than one time.

She was a good professor. Very fun, kept the 3 hour class interesting and I learned a lot. The exam just got on my nerve for stupid reasons. She shoulda done a better job to help us out at least. I guess finals are just as stressful for professors as they are for students.

I'm a psych major with personal background in engineering. Probably going into Human Factors with a backup plan of electrical engineering and taking over the family business when my old man retires. Had to take Positive to keep me sanity in check lol. Also took Abnormal and Social Psychiatry this semester. I can come up with the profiles before they say 'em on Criminal Minds. Not that that means anything but I've one quite a few dollars amongst friends during the TV marathons
