I had a time with mine a while back dealing with my library. I went here and searched it out. Good luck with it. I lost over 30 days of music on mine. It was fun trying to build it all back.

They don't want to make it easy to go the other way. It's difficult by design, to stop you from lending your ipod to someone and then they copy all of your songs. You tend to have better luck with 3rd party tools like podtopc.
That's one of the nice things about android - cut and paste with explorer, and no itunes software needed.

My wife just did this the other day. She used a program called TouchCopy on her XP laptop. The free demo version only lasts for 15 days and copies only 100 songs.

I've used Tune Jack with pretty good results. Like someone said, they don't make it easy. Also, any song that was purchased via Itunes on the Ipod will need the user name and password of the purchaser to play.

Inside iTunes
File > Add file to library (or CNTL+O)

Can also change the iPod to a HD device and transfer files via Windows utilities (Move, Copy, Cut& Paste) directly to your iTunes library.

OS 5 uses the iCloud . You don't have to do anything now. If you buy a something on your iPad it will be pushed to all your OS 5 devices. Samething on your computer, just buy something in the iTunes store and it will be pushed to all your iPods pads and the like.

Yeah, but he has stuff on his iPod thats not in his library.

I use some funky Russian third party program that can "get" a song from the iPod device and installs it in your iTunes library.

There are many third party programs you can use.

Itunes is the biggest pain in the ass. I lost my music library on my laptop and tried to copy it back from my ipod touch. Apparently Itunes only syncs one way...from the computer to the ipod. If I synced it Itunes would basically wipe out all my music on the ipod to match the empty library on the laptop.

Anyway, I searched around and found a program called CopyTrans. It works great. I think it was 10 bucks or something though. Free stuff usually comes with a catch. It was well worth the 10 dollars.

But yeah, Apple makes it much harder than it needs to be. With my Android devices I can wirelessly drag stuff over to another folder anywhere on the network.

Anyone familiar with the KISS principle......
An iPod can be recognized by a Windows OS PC as a hard disk and files copied directly via cut/paste
