Default Big Shrimpin

Anybody watch?

Watched my first episode last night...AWESOME.

I have always been fascinated with freezer boats and long range shrimpers so this show was right up my alley.

I watched it last night and found it pretty interesting. I never realized how much labor is involved in getting shrimp. I get annoyed by the utter stupidity of the deck hands, geez why do all of them have teeth missing, talk like idiots, and chain smoke?

I couldn't stand to listen to "bull frog" for more than 30 seconds at a time, I have never heard a more annoying voice in my life...LOL

I will for sure watch it again.

Hard to pick which one would be more annoying. I hated the promo they were running for the Gold Rush show when Jack would say "No guts, no glory". I couldn't hit the mute button fast enough.

Watched it too. I enjoy these shows, it's like cheap boat porn. Tough to beat deadliest catch though.

It's on now. I didn't see it the other day but from the post above, I believe it's a repeat.

How the hell does anyone work 36 hours straight? Drugs?

I can't believe there would be anything to do on a shrimp boat for 36 hours straight. I think that's TV hype. It's not like crab fishing where you have to bait, drop, and raise the traps numerous times.

I could be wrong but I you simply drag for shimp, no bait or anything else once you drop the nets. I see sorting is a pain and time consuming so maybe they are constantly dropping and raising nets and the rest of the time they are sorting??

I watched it and must say that the 36 hour's straght is T.V. hype, I have shrimped on family and friend's boat's all of my preteen, teen year's and quite a bit since then and there is no way that they go 36 hour's without sleep, most if not all of the big boat's use salt barrel's and unless they are poppin head's there isn't as much picking ( sorting ) as was portrayed, not to mention those boat's were **** and span clean fo the most part.
It was quite entertaining though, I do wish that atleast one of these show's would have 1 capt and crew with a full set of teeth between them..

I watched the show last night and didn't find it all too entertaining. I did take note that I went to high school with that guy who let his foot rot off. I think he was a freshmen when I was in my senior year.. However, that said-- I'll give it another chance with the hopes that the next episode will trump the last.

I was NOT shocked that their teds we're not within regulations. I grew up on my grandfather's and uncle's commercial fishing boats-- both seine fishing and offshore trawling. The deck hands may not have always been the most educated, but they damn sure knew the boat and how to run and operated every piece of equipment competently. They say these guys have decades of experience shrimping, but they make a lot armature/green horn mistakes. Maybe the cameras have them off their game?

1. Can't believe someone trusts these people with their boats.
2. Can't believe a show with Americans speaking English needs subtitles.
3. Can't believe the amount of butterfish these guys throw overboard when it could be sold for bait.
4. Can't believe the average IQ of everyone aboard a shrimp boat is equal to one normal persons.
5. Where did all their teeth go?
