Too fast, too close
Some can not wait to squeeze the throttle, and if not they see this boat, out of my port, almost caused an accident.

I don't know, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Maybe you don't have jet skis were you live, that boat is about the size of a large jet ski and that's what they do here all the time.

John Graviskis had a show awhile back about shotguns with slugs on board to put holes in the hulls of pirates/attackers/etc. If I saw a boat like that trying to ram me (what else am I supposed to think?) I might just put a hole in their hull to protect myself.

That is either a 24 of 28 ft "bat boat" now being made by Vector (called that because of the "wings" on the rear). It's made overseas with a few here in the states.

As for speeds, what should his cruise speed be? 3,500 rpms.....maybe 3,000 rpms????

I know a guy with one and he ran about the same speeds my last boat ran. 3,500 rpms was 60 on GPS, 3,000 was upper 40's GPS. Low 30-mid's took tucking the drives all the way in AND the trim tabs all the way down. Anything in the upper 20's meant the boat sunk in the rear and the bow pointing sky high, basically off plane. Maybe I'm biased because I owned performance boats for years but I don't see anything wrong with passing a slower boat coming out of a channel.

So that boat was doing what, say 85 mph on 6 ft waves?............THT numbers  The hole shot looked pretty poor! :roll

With the cabin so far back, the guy never saw the boat ahead. He might have seen it in the trough, but not while on top and under acceleration.

Spoken like a true jet ski operator!

I'm going to take the other side here and say that the wake jumping was part of the plan and that both the bat boat and the big boat were aware of the stunt. You'll note that the guy on the back of the big boat does not wave, yell or do anything.

FWIW, the bat boat was a great concept in impracticality. It was designed by Ocke Mannerfelt and worked well at speed, but docking and the beam requirements for the wings limited its appeal in the market.

I would imagine by the angle of the camera, the boat appeared to be closer than it actually was.;?
