Default IPhone 4 email question

You guys seem to know more than the "experts" so I'll ask.

I need to occasionally find an email from 3 or 4 months ago. how do I find it in a search window, without scrolling through thousands of emails?

There is obviously a search window, but if I type the contact of which I'm trying to find his emails, I only get his contact info, no emails.

Is this possible?

At the top of the Mailbox IN box is "Search All Inboxes" I just tried it by first name and it works
Under Search All Inboxes it should say "From" "To" "Subject" "All" You can highlight one of these for searching

Ha, I just found it. Funny, if you go to the "inbox" the entire inbox pops up, but you have to scroll "UP" on my phone to see the search box.

Its been there the whole time and never knew it!

Thanks,

crap, I get hundreds a day, had my phone for a couple of months and it will just keep on searching, 25 at a time if I let it. I don't normally delete my emails unless they are junk mail. Which means, every email I ever got is there to find.

I just got an Iphone and the one thing I don't like about it is that it does not alert me when I receive new emails like my Blackberry did. Does anyone know how to change that?

The iPhone has an alert tone and the new iOS shows new messages on the lock screen if you push the home button. I am a former BB user and it took awhile to get used to not having the LED at the top. Go to setting to turn the tone on.

That is one thing that annoys the hell out of me about the phone. It needs to have some type of light or something other than swiping the screen to alert you of an email or text

Ive had mine for a few months now. You get used to it. Hopefully they will address it with the next gen phone.

Try settings, notifications, mail, make sure alerts are "on", then choose "alert style". Also choose "view in lock screen" That should help.
