Default Hockey - Philly vs Tampa

I didn't see the game last night; I only saw a clip this morning on Sports Center. So what was Philly protesting about in the first period? Props to Tampa for letting it happen.

They weren't protesting per se. They were trying to break Tampa out of the 1-3-1 trap they use.

Hmm, I'm surprised the ref didn't call Philly on delay of game penalties? Isn't there some sort of rule on the books where the offensive team has to clear their zone within X amount of time if they are not hampered? Or is that just in basketball?

No such rule in hockey. The ref, however, can use discretion and blow the play dead if the game is at a "stand still" for lack of a better word. There is, no penalty though, just a face off and play resumes.

There is a delay of game rule, but nothing that states that the offensive team has to clear the zone in any amount of time. I was watching the game when all that happened. Hilarious!!! Philly didn't know what to do.

There is no penalty though. Play just stops and then a face off.
