Should the NCAA level the Death Penalty on PSU?

Case in point: Southern Methodist University football scandal: In 1986, it was revealed that Southern Methodist University boosters gave football players thousands of dollars from a "slush fund" with the knowledge of university administrators. Along with a string of prior NCAA violations, this led the NCAA to level the "death penalty" on the school's football team.

What is worse giving money to players or covering up child molestation by a coach?

If the NCAA does not throw sanctions against the team it is nothing but a money hungry joke.

Save joe, this is all a crock of pot crap. He had nothing to do with any of the crimes that went on. He is a legend, yet treated like a piece of crap. He has no idea to the extent of what was going on. He reported crimes to upper management. If he reported TO POLICE he could have well had been fired back then, he was only looking out for his family because at the end of the day thats what matters more ( looking out for your family first) people have no respect anymore in america. This country is going down the pooper and its a shame i think so when i served it with the army.

1. He had nothing to do with what went on
2. He still reported what happened, to the school's top people. ( they are at fault for neglect)
3. If joe tells the police about whats going on with the school he puts his own family at risk by possibly being fired for something that he didnt do himself. At that point its about providing for family and food on the table.

Im not saying thats its ok for people to sexually advance children because its totally wrong. I would beat someone over it. Joe did the right thing he told someone. Its sad what went on, but at the end of the day he had nothing to do with it. I hope the victims find peace and justice.

morley, i see your point i know. But put your self in his shoes. Would you risk your self being fired? And not being able to provide for your family?

Yes, if a 10 year old child was being ass raped by my right hand man.

You would choose to allow a child to be raped in order to "put food on your child's table", so by definition, you support ass rape of little boys by grown men.

That's the same stance Joe took.

And a coach of his caliber could have gotten a job without much sweat at all. The premise that he was in fear of his job and putting food on the table is bullshit.

Joe had an obligation to do more than he did, and he chose Penn State, being the head football coach, and all that came with it; rather than choosing to stop the ass rape of young children.

Read the findings of the Grand Jury.

Joe: Son, so what you are telling me is you walked in on Jerry anally raping a 10 year old boy.
Mike: That is what I am saying. He had the boy pinned against the wall in the showers. Should I call the police, what should I do, I am freaking out.
Joe: No. No. No. Don't call the police. There would be this big investigation. It woudl not be good for football.
Mike: But what about protecting the child.
Joe: I don't want to lose my job. Do you?
Mike: I don't have a job. I am a grad assistant.
Joe: Oh, yea.I forgot. Well maybe we can change that. How would you like to be an assistant coach?
Mike: Oh, yea, that would great, but what am I going to do?
Joe: We will make you a receiver coach or something.
Mike: No, no, Joe I am talking about what I saw.....Jerry raping the little boy.
Joe: (puzzled look)
Mike: In the locker room, you know the kid.
Joe: oh yea, right. Well let's tell the AD that there was another indecent with Jerry. They already know all about Jerry. They can keep this quite. Let's just worry about football, that's what keeps food on my table, and that's what will put food on your table, not protecting kids from Jerry.
