So what is the opinion of the SEC fans about Texas A&M and Missouri coming aboard?

I like the A&M addition. I wish the SEC would have gone with someone other than Mizzou for a few different reasons- namely that Mizzou wanted to go to the Big 10, or stay in the Big 12, or go to the Big 10, then wanted to go to the SEC, and then stay in the Big 12, and then said they would have rather gone to the Big 10 and now the SEC.....(or something like that), and geographically, I would have much rather seen a team like Va Tech, Ga Tech, FSU, or WVU get the invite. It woud have made more sense to me and those are teams that I have actually followed during my time watching football. Now Mizzou will be playing in the East and I would be willing to bet a few years down the road there will be some sort of division realignment.

Well, from a Gator fan, who also attended Illinois (rival of Mizzou), I have no problems with their entrance into the league...

What I don't like is the concept of conference membership, be it Big 10, Big 12, SEC, Pac 10, whatever, set up to better one's chances at winning a National Championship. Recruit right, teach the young people right, what happens will happen. But it's not the end-all...

I'm a big college football and hoops fan, but I don't like where this is going...JMHO.

The addition of Texas to the form what became the Big 12 has been a disaster to the other schools. Everything you posted about Mizzou was a reaction to how Texas was screwing the conference. A conference is supposed to be about sharing and Texas cuts a $250 million deal and said F the Big 12. Then Texas and Oklahoma wants to go to the Pac 10 but get rejected. Mizzou is supposed to stand pat and do nothing?

Not saying Mizzou should have stayed put, just saying I would have rather seen a different addition than them. I agree with Seabob- I don't like the way that the landscape is changing and the implications of super conferences. The rich get richer and leave out the little guy. I have absolute disdain for Texas now. It would have been nice if the Big 12 could have stayed intact as what it was/is a good football and basketball conference

See there are many positives about Mizzou in the SEC this just being one of them. Kind of a Win Win deal. Or is it lose lose?

Illinois borders on Kentucky, as well as Ohio and Indiana. It's not about regions anymore, it's about NCs and $$$....

When I was at U of I, our (students) season ticket prices were $35...for the whole season!!! '78-'80. And we had first dibs. Wonder what major school season ticket prices are now, for students (if they can get them), or the general public?

So, since Mizzou and A & M are west, who moves to the east? 'Bama and Auburn?

Exactly. I hate this change. What the hell does Texas and Missouri have to do with the SE.

And what does Louisville have to do with the Big East? Or does the Big East stand for anything east of the Mississippi? What does Arizona have to do with the PAC 10? PAC standing for Pacific, as in states that border the Pacific Ocean. Why is Penn State in the Big Whatever, when it is TONS further east than Louisville or Cincinnati?

Nothing new, it's all about $$$...

Look. I understand that the Civil War is over, and I HAVE forgotten and all of that. But shouldn't a school in the SOUTH EASTERN Conference be from a state that was in the Confederacy? Do they say y'all? Eat grits and enjoy them? All due respect to Missouri, but I don't think so.

Or lest we forget Texas and OU trying to get into the PAC 10.

Well Cajun Martini you then should lobby hard for Texas.

Missouri is next to Arkansas...can't say, on the border, the inhabitants are much different...

I don't like it. I can see A&M maybe, but Mizzu is way too far away from the other schools, and will be treated like a red-headed step child.

It now causes a lot of realignment...Clemson would have been a great fit...and they play SEC style football!

My guess Auburn comes over to the East (hell they have a lot of players from Columbus Ga/mid Ga), then Alabama & Auburn could possible play each other 2 times...one being the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta...money, money, money!

Out of all the rumors for the 14th team, Va Tech made the most sense to me (yes, I'm partial). Tech is actually in the SouthEast, it is very close to Knoxville (UT) and it would have brought the 3rd largest TV market to the SEC (D.C. area is full of Hokie fans). They also have a consistant program and would have benefited from the recruiting as part of the SEC.

Riddle me this; Boise St as part of the "Big East"???
