Probably a good time to take a laxative or eat a head of broccoli!

Home made mac and cheese with shrimp is something to dream for. I am lucky to have my mom's original recipe. It is a once every several years treat to make because it is just so bad for my health but just soooo tasty.

Quaffing beverages makes us eat things we wouldn't..."normally" eat!

"Crappy" being the operative. Mac and cheese is a child's dish because not a lot can be done to enhance the flavor without making the dish into something else. Mac and cheese is simple, cheap, and like you said, crappy food.

Now that I totally buried you dinner, sometime I think in the 1920's an Italian cook that owned a small restaurant in Roma(?) was concerned his wife couldn't keep down food -- she was pregnant. So he set out to make something she could eat and would stay with her. His solution, fettuccine, with a sauce of cream and melted Parmesan cheese. Fettuccine Alfredo is the same thing as mac and cheese except it uses long noodles. And that ain't no kids food!

If you buy the high end of the boxed stuff like Annie's, it's actually not that bad. We had tacos one night, and had some taco meat left over. I mixed it with a box of mac & cheese, and life was good.

Many restaurants are now bringing back mac & cheese - maybe some hoity-toity executive found himself at a cracker barrel eating comfort food. Lobster mac & cheese is a pretty good time.

None of that stovetop stuff out of the box for me. Some good homemade baked mac and cheese is great though. I do have to hold back to every once in a while though. Why do things that tasty have to be so bad for you?

step one: boil a box of macaroni elbow according to directions.
step two: melt down a big block of valveeta with two cups of milk
step three: mix together
(optional): top with a can of French's crispy onions and bake 30 minutes at 325.

Chow down

Beats the crap out of the instant or quick cook stuff.

Hated my college's dining hall so lived on Mac and Cheese for nearly three years. Tuna or Chicken on toasted Thomas's english muffins too...

Funny how some things don't change... Still eat it today and could care less whether it's good for me or not.... MMMMMMMMM............

I think I know what I'm having for dinner now along with a little Campbell's tomato soup... Yea Baby...
