Default Hyatt Legal Plan benefit, anyone used it?

We are doing benefit enrollment at work, one of the things they started offering is Hyatt Legal Plan.

http://www.legalplans.com/

Anyone used this that cares to comment? It would be about $240 a year.

It's a piece of shit! Hyatt Legal is borderline fraud. They do NOT screen their lawyers. Pass on Hyatt Legal. A little common sense and your local bar asso referral can do 100-times better.

When you call Hyatt Legal for a lawyer they ask what area of law you need and then give you the names of 3 lawyers that specialize in that area of law. Problem: every Hyatt affiliated lawyer checks every box as specializing in every area of law. You waste your time screening lawyers that know NOTHING about the area of law you need help with. Then you call Hyatt legal back and get the names of three more lawyers ... same results, more self-screening, more frustration, more lawyer referrals needed. And the Hyatt Legal affiliated lawyers are forbidden from referring you to a lawyer that really can help you!!! WHAT THE HELL KIND OF AFFILIATION IS THAT ?!? All they can do is refer you back to the plan. Eventually you will give up and call your local bar asso referral line ... and that is far more meaningful. I know ... it is really sad.

Save your money (and frustration) ... DO NOT ENROLL IN HYATT LEGAL plan!!! If there is any doubt, call your local bar asso and ask how much a referral fee is. Compare that to the cost of a meaningless Hyatt Legal payroll deduction.

We are very sorry that your experience with Hyatt Legal Plans was unsatisfactory. We strive to provide 100% satisfaction. Most attorneys in our group legal plan network have an average of 25 years of experience in the practice of law; all must undergo a rigorous screening process and training on service standards. It would be helpful if you could contact us directly to let us know what area of law you needed help in and where the network attorneys fell short in assisting with your particular issue. Anytime you have an issue with our service or plan attorneys, please contact us by phone at 800-821-6400 or email: csc[at]legalplans.com. We would love to hear from you and provide the service you need.

This is an example of why I have a Google Alert set up for my business name. I have no experience with Hyatt Legal Plans, but they are on the ball to find this thread on the web.

Dear Hyatt Legal Plan spammer -- can you read? Can you understand what you read? What part of the very clear explanation that you replied to did you not understand?

I say again, Hyatt Legal Plan DOES NOT adequately screen their member lawyers as to the area of law they provide services in. I say again, SAVE YOUR MONEY, SAVE YOUR TIME, AND SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION of having to screen lawyers that cannot help you. Pass on Hyatt Legal Plans.

Agreed, they are on the ball to find this thread. Unfortunately, their reply does nothing to address the short comings of their "legal plan".

One of the more frustrating things is they forbid member attorneys from providing the name of an atty that could help you if that other atty is not a member of Hyatt Legal Plans. WTF!!!

Honestly, you are better off calling your local Bar Asso, or call a big-time atty's office and ask for a referral.

I had a "friend" try to get me into the Pre-paid Legal pyramid. He brought another guy with him. When I asked what attorneys they used locally he wouldn't tell me. I told him that I wasn't about to buy or sell the damned product without knowing who they used for local attorneys because some of the local attorneys have a less than stellar reputation.

How 'bout you take it down a notch Boss. I am not sure who peed in your Capt'n Crunch this morning, but let's keep it civil.

Right. And the irony of that is supposed to be lost on us? Don't you have an Occupied somewhere to get back to?

I "alerted" their msg as being spam. It clearly is.
