Default Computer Browser Question

I have a Lenovo desktop in my office that I bought a couple weeks ago and the security is driving me nuts.

I think it is the browser that has DEP something for progams and if it does not sense this it closes the window.

Well DEP does not like Weather Underground and I cannot use the radar for the weather. It also shuts some fishin sites which the end of this DEP stuff for me.

I have been in the DEP advanced area and I cannot turn it off. So should I just delete this brower and install a different one ? If so which one should I get?

Appreciate any help with this,

Butch

I assume you are talking about Data Execution Prevention. What browser and operating system are you using?

Yes is it the Data Execution Prevention. This is a new Lenovo Desktop with Internet Explorer 8 and I guess it is Windows 7. My older laptop has Vista and I have to use it to get on here to THT.

Appreciate any help,

Butch

Internet Explorer 8 is old, 9 is the latest. Run a "Windows Update" and upgrade to 9. Since the laptop is new, best to run the windows update anyway and apply all updates.

You need to use admin credentials. Do you have a separate admin account? If not you need to do this..
"If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation."

And then change the settings. Is this what you did?

Yes that is exactly what I did. There are only two options one is to leave as is or you have to list indivigual programs. I cannot find a place to list websites such as THTor WeatherUnderground.

This desktop is new and my laptop is older maybe 6 years or so but I can get on here with it.

That is why I am thinking about just getting rid of the browser since that contains the DEP ? Very frustrating........

Thanks again,

Butch

Thanks,
