Pasco County School Absentees :-(

There are fewer feet hitting the halls of schools in some Pasco County lately.
The entire school district is dealing with a major attendance problem, but the problem is not limited to just a few deliquent students. According to Pasco County school leaders, two-thirds of students at Stewart, Gulf and Hudson middle schools missed 10 or more days last year.
Hudson Elementary assistant principal Sharon Sacco said the schools are trying to deal with the issue.
"It is something we are aware of and we are being pro-active with coming up with plans so we can get the kids here," Sacco said.
The pro-active plans are being implemented district-wide, including lessons on being responsible, incentive programs and phone calls to parents, if necessary.
In some cases, schools have given students alarm clocks, because they say their parents aren't waking them up on time.
What is causing the attendance problem?

School leaders said they don't have a clear-cut answer, because the issue involves too many different parents, too many students, in too many homes. Leaders did cite a lack of responsibility by some parents as an issue.
District leaders say they are seeing some positive results with the district's efforts already.

Vulcan????...

So a buddy of mine was retired and bored...thought he would drive Pasco County school busses for a few years. Those little middle school heathans cussed him regularly. Nothing he could do. The procedure was to write them up and send a copy to the school and the parents. NEITHER ONE CARED!!

The school vice principals told him he was being too hard on the little darlings, and he should try harder to understand them???????

Regularly he put up with 13 y/o girls and guys dropping trousers and showing their asses and whatever else they wanted to show. They just didn't care.

When he tried to talk to the parents, they were rarely there to pict the kids up...had older brothers/sisters there instead.;

We can all just imagine what the parents were doing?? But very obviously they just don't care.....

And unfortunately, neither do the administrators....

Sad state of affairs that our tax dollars are financing and seemingly encouraging...as we have very little say in what is going on in these schools.

Right up the Marxist's manifesto.......keep the population uneducated and ignorant....ignore the lack of learning how to THINK....

....it's been done for decades ....and they have succeeded!

Alarm clocks, that ought to do it. If you aren't responsible to buy your own damn clock and get your kids up on time you sure as hell won't be anymore responsible after getting a free (taxpayer provided) alarm clock.

Just another hair-brained, LA LA idea by academia. My wife is a teacher and 90% of her problems stem from parents who simply do not give a damn about their child's education.

Why we sold in Pasco and bought in Hernando...

Except for out east, Wesley Chapel and Trinity area, Pasco is white trash...just drive through the neighborhoods around Regency Park, Fox Hollow, Embassy, Trouble Creek...and then you have Holiday!
