Default Calling Auguste

auguste - 1/16/2005 6:57 PM

Please drop the whiteman crap . . . I am a Native and you offend me

I live in Canada and have a strong Native lineage in my family . . . more than 85% MicMac (MiMaque). . . you deeply offend me . . . Natives view Mother Earth in a way you truly do not express in your e-mails
I pulled that quote out of another thread.

Auguste - My wife has MicMac (MiMaque) Indian in her blood. We have been trying to trace the roots of her heritage and we're not sure where to look. Her relatives came from "The Plains of Abraham" which I believe is in the Quebec area but I'm not sure (not good at Canadian geography).

Do you know anywhere that has records online???

Dockmaster,

I would almost think that you've stumbled across these three links?

Garett - Thanks for the links. This project was something my wife was doing about 8-10 years ago. We hit alot of dead ends so she gave it up. Around here the Mohawk and Mohican tribes get together in the fall for a weeklong Pow Wow. There were also some other tribes at the Pow Wow but no Mic Mac. I think she more or less gave up at that point. Being that the Mic Mac was more of a Canadian tribe, and she had no connections to anyone in Canada anymore.

When I saw Auguste's post the other day I mentioned it to her and may have sparked a little fire, that's why I posted here. How common is the last name Pauz`e up there??? I know it's not very common down here in the states.

Hey, y'all are having your own little pow-wow over here aren't ya?

MicMac - That is too cool. Auguste, you are definitely a man of many layers (and colors for that matter)!

IF you have any web links for MicMac history or anything that you find to be the most accurate and informative, please post up. I would like to read up a little bit on their history. Yes, I am a kind of a history junkie, but not obsessively...

Dockmaster

Got one call last night . . . I think this is a discussion we should carry off line so that I can present a few issues and suggestions . . . please send me your phone number and I will call you when I am back at the office . . . I am currently in British Columbia on business for about 10 days.

The majority of the Mic Mac are currently in the south-eastern half of Quebec and in the Atlantic provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Around Quebec City there are a lot of Huron with small pockets of Mic Mac here and there.

Also, does your Admiral have the family names of her Native ancestory?

Cheers
