Scam artists rely on (at least) three things to be able to pull it off successfully:

Greed
Ignorance
Desperation

It just amazes me what (so-called) educated people will fall for...

One of the more "popular" scams hitting this area right now is the ebay income-at-home scam.

The victim, usually an established ebay buyer, signs up to be a "buyer" for an out of country company. The company tells the buyer what type of merchandise to purchase. The victim completes the purchase thru ebay and pays for the item thru PayPal. The victim then forwards the invoice to the company for "reimbursement". The company then sends the payment to the victim for the amount paid plus shipping and 20% for their "pay". The victim then forwards the item to the "company".

Well, the writing on the wall is right there in front of them, but they are so desperate, ignorant or greedy to see it.

The payments are phoney and the person is not only out their original money (plus shipping/forwarding it), but they are out the item too!

You just can't fix stupid...
