Default Lodging on Anna Maria / Longboat Key?

Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay for a couple of days on Anna Marina Island, or Longboat Key, that doesn't cost $300/night with taxes and resort fees?

I'm not looking for a $30/night dive, but rather something nice and clean on the beach that's reasonable. I've found that some of the smaller places are hit or miss, and some are downright scary, but there's got to be a gem of a place out there that I'm not aware of.

I thought this was the off season, but rates are through the roof.

Try Cannons on LBK. They usually rent by the week but under short notice and availablity they have done shorter stays in the past. They are old style beach cottages that are clean in the middle of a residential section so the beaches will not be crowded.

You can camp in my backyard for $15/night. Twenty minutes to AMI

LBK? Forget it. Try the Bradenton Beach chamber of commerce or the Manatee county tourist whatever. Plenty of excellent little hotel/motels across Gulf Of Mexico Dr. from Coquina Beach...

Default Lido Beach? Helmsley Sandcastle

Next to Longboat Key, we stayed here two summers ago and will go back. It's an old hotel that is very clean with a large beach.

Just came across your post, don't know if you're still looking but I can recommend a place for you. Check out the Tradewinds Resort on Anna Maria. I've stayed there almost every spring for the past 20 yrs and have been very happy with it.

Hmmmm, Azure Tides. When I was a junior and senior in high school we used to go there during spring break. That's when I found out about what college girls were like.

It's been a long time, but I think it's still there and under the same name. The Diplomat on LBK (oceanfront) is a place I stayed several times. Used to be reasonable, but like I said, it's been a while.
