We have a ghost fleet in the lower james river. Pretty cool to check out--wonder what is leaking out of those things...

Interesting, thanks for posting.

But WTF are they thinking, I can see keeping them for a few years after they were retired, but it sure doesn't look like any are fit to be put back in service ever, not without a total rebuild.

Sell them for scrap, we need the money.

Cant scrap them here because of EPA regs. Paint, asbestos etc. We periodically have them towed to countries like Singapore for dismantling and scrap.

We cant even have them towed abroad anymore after new laws. To scrap these vessel would COST us money as they are so toxic. What a shame.

I would love to have a chair or lamp from the USS Iowa.

They got some really nice pic's but to actually post on a web site that they trespassed on military property is pretty crazy.

As others mentioned the ships have been sitting since WWII but it's Bush's fault...but Obama is making things right......that's pretty funny.
