Giving out tickets by camera yet?

I blew a light the other day in Pensacola Beach. Saw two camera flashes, do you think I should be expecting a ticket in the mail?

Sometimes it takes a while, but it will come.

WildSideFL 06-07-2011 04:13 AM

I got one behind a semi in Florida City on my way home from the Keys. I went to court and it was dropped, most are. No LEO even showed up.

CLang 06-07-2011 04:23 AM

I got one here in Louisiana. Speeding, to beat the red light naturally.....I spoke to my insurance carrier and they told me to throw it away.....it can't do anything to harm your driving record....it actually just effects your credit score. I don't intentionally get them but I am also no longer worried about them....kinda scares the shit outta you when those camera flashes go off eh?

ryan g 06-07-2011 05:06 AM

U will get one. The first flash shows u behind the line and the light red. The second shows u acrooss the line with the Light red. Here in ga... u can't beat it. I could read the brand and make of tire on my truck at 35 mph

Hey Ryan--I am one of 2 Ga lawyers on this site. I no longer mess with traffic stuff--but, they can be beat. I would hope the other one chimes in--he is currently dealing with such issues. If he does--maybe he can give an overview of the current Ga law.

Government Camera Arrests (that is technically what they are) offend my understanding of the Constitution.

Wonderful.... F...k! Not having a good few days in that department, just got my first ticket Friday in a long time, for a law I didn't even know existed.... The 'move over law'. WTF? Sure enough, the very next rest area on the FL tpk there was a big azz sign warning about it.... DUHHHH. Trooper told me it was the law in 48 states...

x2.

Houston got rid of them.

Opened my mail one day to discover I was receiving a fine for violating the toll on some bridge going into WPB. Had the picture. Not my vehicle, same license plate but it was Fla, not MS. I was 6000 miles away from WPB on the day the violation occurred.

Fricken idjits.

Fight It!!!! In Florida, if you show up, odds are they won't even call your name....just another money grabbing scam by the people we elected and pay to make our world better!!!

Last I heard, you are innocent until proven guilty, and how will they prove YOU were driving the car? Heaven help the dad with a couple of teenagers who borrow the family car on a regular basis. Now, if the ticket was for expired plates, ok, that is your responsibility. But criminal infractions??? Give me a *$%#$&^ break!!!!!

We have red light cameras in my town. They work and you will get a ticket.

I wish they were everywhere. You have no constitutional right to run a red light.

If you don't like having your picture taken when you run a red light, just quit running red lights.

Or stay off the road.

I don't run red lights. Have never been ticketed. I am over 50.

I do know that corruption exists in the companies that manage, control and profit from the system. Just ask WPB.

The Constitution is there to protect you FROM government.

The system is a scam.

Appreciated, appropriate, anticipated remark from one of the top azzholes on this site... I never said I had the right to run a light, I wasn't complaining, I deserve the ticket. I should have been paying closer attention and slammed on my brakes and stopped. I was just curious to see if they were acivated. Now you can go back to your kiddie porn site and play with yourself some more.

1. Thelma says you're a dumbass!

2. No road head. Pay attention.

3. How can this method of ticketing be legitimate when there is no evidence of who is driving the vehicle?

t3rockhall 06-07-2011 07:26 AM

No points on your record. These cameras are run by private companies, who do it for a piece of the action. It's just another profit-making scheme figured out by some clever entrepreneur. But beware! Some municipalities are fixing the game by decreasing the time the amber light is on. It's all about the money.

colmbarry 06-07-2011 07:30 AM

In Maryland, if you don't pay the ticket or get it dismissed at a hearing you will not be allowed to renew the registration whenever that comes due so the advice the ins. company gave to throw it away will not work here.

The fines I have received and the accompaning pictures cleary showed the vehicle going through a red light. I did run those lights and I knew when I did it. Got my tickets, paid my fine and now I pay closer attention at the intersections.

stars-N-stripers 06-07-2011 07:33 AM

when I lived in Germany from 1982 ~ 1989. They were already in place. I got a ticket for running a red light in the mail. A picture from the front (that showed ME the driver) and one from behind, that showed the red light and my lic. plate. I gladly paid the fine, because I was drunker than drunk at the time. Had the police pulled me over, as an Americian civilian, it could have been MUCH worse, loss of an International drivers lic./ fines/ time in jail.........ect.

The car's owner gets the ticket, not the driver (they can't prove who the driver is). That's why there are no points.
