Default USC stripped of National Championship

USC has been stripped of National Championship in football for 2004 due to all the crap Reggie Bush did

I understand taking the "trophy" but according to the players they still feel like they won the championship

Sucks for those that should have played in the game instead of USC, Auburn I think was undefeated that year as well

Don't blame Reggie! He was just a target of an investigation....I PROMISE you that there are hundreds of players receiving the same treatment in NCAA football. Even in much smaller schools. There isn't a conference left that doesn't "pay" players. I used to think that it was the last pure sport left, figure that these men were out there proving themselves to try and make major dollars...come to find out, they were already making major dollars.

Yep, "THEY" also think they should be given the NC that year since they went undefeated. Me thinks, they need to keep their mouths shut and hope the NCAA doesn't look closer at CN and his dad.

There should be some sort of agreement in place between the pro leagues and the NCAA that says if someone gets caught cheating after getting into the pros that they would have to give X% of their salary to reimburse the school, NCAA, community, etc. Many of them see things like this Reggie Bush thing and think, oh well, I'll take some $$ now and by the time it catches up to me who cares. If it followed the successful ones into the pros, maybe some would think twice about it.

And it should work that way with coaches as well - Pete Carroll.

I agree, what is happening to USC and the current staff and players is almost not fair since all the guilty parties have left

I am wondering why the IRS is going to start investigating all this stuff. That will put a stop to it

Kiffin is in a "win-win" situation.
If he has a winning season he will be coaching genius, if he looses, he already has an excuse.

No doubt, I was hoping the SEC would have jumped USC to get into another title game. Auburn would have crushed OK that year. If that would have happened, we wouldn't be having this discussion

It only hurts the guys of tomorrow--not the ones who cheated. I have an NFL guy at my clinic that was on that team........he doesn't give a sheee. Either fix the problem or let everyone cheat. Picking and choosing only hurts kids going into a program.

Why don't they just pay the players out in the open rather than under the table like they do now for the vast majority of Division 1 players. Not all get the big bucks, some only get a few $100 here and there, things like work study jobs where you don't have to show up. But the vast majority do get paid something in some form or fashion.

Pete knew a problem was coming and bailed, but it was there before him... Our older guys always tell the rooks from USC that they are going to take a pay cut going into the league.

If you paid them, they still would want the extra $$ that these other folks are offering. At what point do you think they are going to say no? How much are you willing to pay them to do that? Now what about the girls lacrosse team? Mens gymnastics? Or just pay based up on whether or not the sport at that school is profitable? Then I guess the big schools will always get the best players and the lower tier schools will never be able to compete. Or as I like to call it, MLB. If it's a private institution, fine, but when it's a state school that gets funding from your tax $ are you willing to have a hike so the "student" athletes are able to get their cut?

Too many variables to this paying them thing and ultimately it won't solve the problem.
